Someone will probably be able to loan you some, and if they charge you 50$ for tiles then they are either complete jerks or greedy, selfish people. You can the map and tiles you need in the starter set for much less than that, with 12 minis as well.

It's hard to plan on tiles for limited since you don't know what your warband will be. So if you somehow acquire tiles before the release then you should probably bring the basics. One mushroom tile, one treasure room, etc.

It's deja vu all over again.

Not to mention that almost every legal tile is downloadable from wizards.

You can get a perfectly good set of tourney legal tiles off of the wizards website at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20041007b.
Alternatively, a single starter pack of aberrations will get you plenty of tiles, plus a map, die, and some extra miniatures. It shouldn't run you much more than 20$.
Good luck at the prerelease.

Also if you want to have some nice ones to use download the ones and get them printed in color and laminated. It's still cheaper than buying a starter.

If you are still planning to go to the Prerelease at Game Kastle, I can hook you up with a set of the Harbinger and Aberrations terrain tiles, one of the blank battle grid maps, and the Mushroom Tangle, Hall of Heroes, and Egg Chamber RPGA tiles for $10.

Let me know, and I can bring them with me.

Louis

I checked the wizards site, there missing all the Aberation,Harbinger,Sandstorm and these organized play tiles Hall of Heroes,Scorched Passage, Medusas Chamber, Zig-Zag, Broken Fountain, Dungeon Rooms,Rock Shrine, and Endgame. Which of the missing Sandstorm and Organized play tiles are any good, probably endgame what else? Lcs Ill probably take up your offer ill go see if I can borrow/buy the rest what you have will probably be enough for me to be competetive.
I was thinkin Abberation,Harbinger,Organized Play tiles would cost me 20-30ish max,Sandstorm 10-20ish max Im glad I was off [:)]

How high of a quality do the tiles you print have to be?(my printers spitting it out in hot pink). Are the ones on the wizards site the only ones legal for DCI play, because I could see why the Abberation,Harbinger,Sandstorm tiles wouldnt be up for download.
Lcs howd you know I was going to Gamekastle btw? Guess i just lucked out and ran into a mindreader[:)]

Depending on the type of warband you build at the prerelease, some of the tiles from Sandstorm are open and good for ranged bands. They are also slightly smaller that the original terrain tile size, which makes it easier to fit them into areas that your opponent has tried to block with their tiles. The Sandstorm tiles are going to be hard to find, unless you just go out and buy the book. In your situation, they probably aren'y worth the trouble or cost.

As far as the other RPGA campaign tiles go, if you wanted to acquire all of them the cost would certainly add up since they are harder to get than the tiles that came in the starters. They do provide you with more options, but there aren't really any others besides Mushroom Tangle that really stand out.

Endgame is just plain big... Some people swear by this tile, but I've seen just as many matches where it has hurt the player using it rather than giving an advantage.

Hall of Heroes provides a Magic Circle covering the entire tile with thin walls along the long sides, and it has the added benefit that you can also place it the other way if you decide you need more blocking. Rock Shrine is 6x6 and is also a good Magic Circle tile, since you can use the walls on the corners to prevent your opponent from placing walled tiles adjacent to it and at the same time keep your lines of fire open.

Dungeon Rooms and Broken Fountain are interesting because they are 6x6 and fit into some odd spaces, but otherwise they don't have a whole lot going for them.

With the tiles from the starter sets and Mushroom Tangle, you'll have a pretty good selection to choose from.
