| There are several players in my area that really want to play 500-point bands. I'm thinking that the presence of the epics, and the presence of lots of 50+ point non-Huge figures will pretty much eliminate nearly all the GoL Huges (maybe the Storm Giant will still show up). Quite a bit will have to happen to offset the Save = 10 problem for the existing Huges.
I suppose we could just change it to Save = 15 and see how that affects things.

| I expect to see the Storm Giant once in a while and the Huge Gold Dragon some. Those two can have their saves buffed by other minis in their factions so they can be a little bit better than they would be with straight save=10. Some degree of save buffing is possible with some of the other figs too, but fewer of the others will be worth it. The straight CE huges like the Nightwalker are extinct, though, unless we start to get some more save buffers, which seems unlikely. Overall, though, I suspect that, e.g., a HGD with its save buffed to 13 will have a hard time, but may still be usable.
A lot will depend on just how good the new Epic minis turn out to be. The Epic Balor looks awfully scary at first, but when I think of him facing Justice Archons (yeah, I know they're almost like fodder in Epic, but they're not all that unlikely as "fodder"), I think the Epic Balor is the one that would need to be scared. Elminster seems like a very interesting possibility, but I sure would hate to face a bunch of Beholders with him.
Overall, I think we're going to have to watch the situation shake out a little bit. I've been toying with a bunch of band ideas but there are a lot of very ingenious players around, so a lot of the ideas are going to turn out to be kind of vulnerable.

| I have been involved in many 500 point games, usually multi-player and the huges were getting rare even before epics came along. I'm not so sure about the Nightwalker disappearance though being undead the save =10 isn't so critical. It's the 393 that really hurts. (I used it back in August to get a tournament win.)
I just womder how good the epics really are. Marut actually seems to be a step down in going to epic. +7 to AC, one more attack, 40 more HP for 117 more points, oh and yeah you can't buff it anymore because almighty got added so those attacks stay non-magical now. At 74 points in a 500 point warband and fearless maybe a non-epic Marut is an extra hitter? | | Champion of Cyclops

| | 32 AC is really, really hard to hit. I wouldn't necessarily discount the epic marut. | | Anson on WotC boards | |

| | Look at the other epics tho.. +20/+15/+10 to hit for AoK. 32 AC isnt something that ends the game.. just like 25AC isnt unhittable in 200 point play. | | Minis... Serious Business Completed Trades (18 ) | Pending Trades (0) Ebay seller to Avoid –Fantasy_Quest_Dist

| Epic iron golem looks like a pretty tough costumer to me at least, three attacks at high bonuses for good damage, melee reach, cleave, lots of HP, reinforced...this guy's one tough customer. Speed four is a drawback, but I'd almost want my opponant to get in first attack just so I could use my three on them.
I can't wait for Epic Soth though... | | Call me: W.N. Gobo! originally posted by grim: While he is clearly insane, he does have a point. | |

| | Im definately going to be looking for Cleave in most of my beaters on high end bands. I think thats a major weakness of AoK in standard format. | | Minis... Serious Business Completed Trades (18 ) | Pending Trades (0) Ebay seller to Avoid –Fantasy_Quest_Dist

| It is promised to be the first Epic card for Drizzt in monthly promo packs after Underdark's release replacing tiles.
