| | I think that the biggest problem is that the hill giant won't get a chance to rally if it fails the morale save. Also, for 10 more points you can use the aspect fo kord, which can do 40 and it will hit a LOT more often. | | Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.--Dylan Thomas

| | A hill giant couldn't add a tiefling commander rating to his morale save can he? An orc champ would be +11, the hill giant +12, a ravager or red samurai would be +13. I think I'd rather take one of the other hitters, get two attacks at better attack bonuses, deal magic damage, and save 15 points or so for something else. | |

| Yeah - difficult on my beloved Hill Giants is becoming increasingly annoying . . . We need a giant master, con sarn'it!
I will defend their usefulness to the bitter end, but I need a giant master to get them in order. In command, holy heck the hill giants are good. Out of command is just not an option.

| Without a commander 5 to keep the HG under command, he drops from limited utility in a competitive warband to a piece with no place in a competitive warband.
Sadly the Hill Giant had the largest drop of any piece for competitive purposes when the Justice Archon came out in Angelfire. The Hill Giant was not the best choice before Angelfire, but definitely no longer competitive.
The speed 2 rule, as currently understood in the community would not allow an OOC HG to have a place in a competitive warband, it would still need commander 5 for such a large points investment. | | Member of the Low Post Count but High Post Content Society

| So, suppose some future Hill Giant piece comes out that's a commander, and that has Giantmaster 20, or whatever. I suppose that's about what we'd need for the Hill Giant to be useful again.

| The "no more speed 2" rule change will certainly aid in the Hill Giant being able to team up with a better variety of commanders. No rallying should not be too much of a problem, but it would have been nice to be able to get a command boost in there for the initial morale check.
With more and more good figs with high AC coming out though, I'm afraid his one attack at +8 could really hamper his effectiveness. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.

Perhaps there might be scope for this with non-epic Snurre coming out? HOPE!
