Well, frankly, I just like him and Snig because you end up with a cheap commander that can't be swiftly assasinated.
Of course, it'd be quite easy to put in a better commander, and still get to 12 activations.
Also, a few magic missles can mean that you're out-activating your opponent by two full phases (ie, 4 Duergers) by round 2. | |
Champion of the Prestige Class where mages focus on telekenesis and start throwing people into the ceiling and uber stuff like that.
Desirer of a Commander Effect in CG that grants Sidestep to followers with a ranged attack. | |

| What are you talking about? Both Kobold Sorcerer and Snig can be killed by 98% of creatures in the game without that much effort. All it takes is one flier to float up and waste either of them.

| It's not all that tough to keep one of two squishy commanders alive, heck, Large Red Beatings survived with the Drow Sgt for a while. (and that is tough to keep her alive)
Starting with 15 activations and 4 beaters, I really don't think it'd be impossible to keep Snig or the Kobold Sorcerer alive for a lot of the game.
But this band concept gets better at 8 activations...
Rakshasa

add 3 more units... (one of which could still be Snig)
Slapping Hand on something based by several Duergar could start a cleaving chain reaction... especially if the target is already Held.
I figured the Rakshasa might be a nice fit here because it is possible that your opponent could run a Couatl, BPM, HO Paladin, HBG, Tiefling, Bugbear Champ, Balor, Lich Necro, Urthok, etc.
You can still get to 11-12 units WITH a solid commander like the Rakshasa. | |

| I really like the looks of the Rak/Duergar Champs band as a core. I might be interested in setting up only 3 champs and pulling in a little more tech, like the Hexblade or a green gragon or a destrachan. Not as much hitting power but it would give you some flexibillity.

| | Even if you can keep two squishy commanders alive, why not just use a beefier commander. For 8-fig, I suggested a warband with the human blackguard and four duergar. Why the HBG? Because I like winning initiative, he can contribute in melee occasionally, and he makes the duergar practically fearless. Other solid choices include the previously mentioned Rakshasa, the Dark Naga (though, I'm then inclined to work in a Gauth or two), or even good ole' Urthok. Even the Cleric of Nerull merits some look, as the death strike effect isn't too bad. | |

| There are few bands that cant be improved by adding Snig+lets. 20 points for a bonus commander for the flankers and 1+3 activations is awfully nice. Tossing in a Kobold Sorc and they all start *cough*hitting for 10 iirc.
I would also like to see Epic Snig (the axe being held by a.. er, I dont know.. Bugbear? Flind? as a 1 handed weapon). | |
