| My first thought was B. Remember, the first thing you do when selecting a warband is choose faction. You have made your selection as CG.
Now, we have no precedent for bringing over a commander with warband building to another faction. I suppose it could be argued that the 'brought over' commander isn't in the warband before any other piece, so you can't use his warband building. But I doubt that is how it would work. Food for thought, though.
After a bit of rambling...

| | Definitely B. If you use Elminster's warband building to bring in an LG commander, the commander's faction changes to CG. Just because he's a commander doesn't change the fact that his faction has to match the chosen faction for your warband instead of what's printed on the card. I see no reason why you couldn't use the warband building capability of the commander you've brought over. | | "Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish." - Albert Einstein Champion of Myopic Half-Orcs Winner, WBC X | |

Isn't this interesting? (I'm not saying I disagree, I'm literally saying that I think this is interesting.) It seems like the Warband Building options of the commanders have been built with the particular factions in mind. Now, it's possible to turn an LG commander into a CG commander (given Elminster's own Warband Building), and this changes what the once-LG commander's Warband Building options allow.
Of course, given the high cost of Elminster, it's a limited change. But, it's interesting. I wonder whether we'll see this in other pieces in the future. I mean, it would be great to get Soth and the Lich Necromancer together, if not for skirmish power, for themed fun.

| Answer B would be my interpretation.
Useful for the following base of 500 pt band
Aspect of Kord (Epic) Elminster (non-Epic) Cleric of Dol Arrah (better boost to Kord MS) and gives Elminster a banish Spirit Folk Fighters (Now fearless due to Cleric Of Dol Arrah CE)
