Very cool, but has a big problem. 1 square wide hallways don't fit in with even casual play rules. You really should have all the areas accessable by 2x2 figures with out having to squeeze. Beyond that it looks nice. I would definatly print out a copy at Kinko's to use.

"1 square wide hallways don't fit in with even casual play rules"

Why not? There are paths for the 2x2 bases both to main room and through smoke. Im not disagreeing with you per se, just don't understand why not.

It's not the rooms on the sides, but the two areas of pillers on either side of the main victory area. Specifically, there is a spot where a creature can sit and be unhittable by any large without melee reach three.

That is a problem, but then at least the aspect of lolth and the roper might be used[:p].

Other then that though I really like it, the symatry is nice, and the victory areas seem well placed. It also, as far as I can tell, is set up so that it's impossible to get off a first turn fireball/abyssal blast- even when using an Inspiring Marshall or Beholder for extra speed. One note is that it requires a creature with speed 7 or better to get first turn tile points.

I don't think it favors archers to much, as even though there are a lot of open spaces, there is also a lot of cover, particularly in the middle.

your forgetting the boneclaw[:p]
Actually the roper might be usefull on this map, as it either gets you first turn tile points, or forces your opponant to kill it before having access to one of your victory areas. Actually, nah, it still sucks.

Sigh I wish that were true. In fact you dont even need the GMA. If you start near the top of the entrance go 5 over and 4 up it BARELY creates LOS by using 1 corner to the middle of the opponents start area.

(I think to fix this I could just split the starting area and extend them further down/up but I want to get feedback before I change the map)

Yup 13 spaces exactly. So unless your playing dwarves :) you probably should be able to land 1 guy there and your army not far behind.

Cool. Make more, make many more.

Even if Large and Huge pieces would have trouble on these maps, they'd be cool in RPG. And, in RPG, it's perfectly appropriate for Medium-sized critters to run down hallways through which larger enemies couldn't follow.

I do appreciate the enthusiasm especially since I was expecting more of it today :/ however I am trying to build maps for skirmish not RPG. (For one thing theres already tons of RPG maps out there, many many many more RPG than skirmish...did I mention many? Alot more. Tons more.)

Hopefully ive fixed the round 1 fireball problem by splitting the start area into 2 and expanding their width. This actually increased the total start area volume as well upto 41 spaces. This allows upto 8 large creatures (cant divide 41/4 because of the arrangement) So if you field an army with 9-12 large creatures (all without waylay or wandering) youll have to come up with your own solution. (Connecting the 4x4 blocks into a solid wall would not have solved this. There were simply to many ways to setup round 1 fireballs with and without grant move action)

Sadly this lets you see which alley will be their closest as opposed to fielding in the middle and then deciding later during your turn. A very big loss, but a necessary solution.

Still deciding to change the columns or not. Their not needed per se, but I thought they would add alot of healthy tension to the center map. The easy solution is to remove the middle set of columns from both east and west.

Please don't start multiple threads on MaxMinis with the same topic in different forums. I know you're excited and the map looks good but multiple threads on the same topic is wasteful.

1.1 Fixed: 4x4 blocks and columns changed to allow large creatures without reach to threaten medium creatures within columns. Columns on North alley removed so large creatures do not have to squeeze. Start areas were divided to prevent round1 turn1 fireball.
