This would be awful.
Say no to dungeon accessories.

OH MY GOD!!! How could people even think about taking this manly game with the cute little plastic minis that we pretend are fighting each other(I like to make sound effects when mine die: "Ugg! You shot me!") and add (shudder) accessories! That would make us adult men who play with toys look silly! You might as well suggest that we start rolling dice and play on fancy colored maps that look like cartoon dungeons!!!

BTW the archmages already have his magical robe that give him blindsight. I'm not in favor of the idea, But there is already rules about this in the miniatures handbook, I think. It is with the campaign rule.

Hmm..really didn't think this would get THAT bad of a reception, but I've only skirmished one game sooo...(shrug). Anyway I figured it would also be a way to make those rares that you groan about with ever opened booster atleast seem....plauseable.

911! My dog is choking on a +5 Greatsword of Holy Fiery DEception Wrath of Satanic Holyness of Blight! (Please hold.)

Wow scary idea. Anyway to the topic. That would be weird but Maybe letting medium creatures be able to mount and stuff but then the skirmish would be the sam as the RPG.

For RPG-only at least I think it'd be a good set for them to do. This is being discussed on the wizard's boards as well FYI:
http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=543424

There are a limited number of items that could be skirmish-usuable. Mimics, animated objects, demi-lich (floor tile with a skull), living spells, traps, etc. A wandering bookcase would be lame, but appropriate stats could make some objects usuable.

by picking up a object u would get victory points. one in every starter would not be outrageous. they=2 would go on random spots on the maps . one would give you victory points and the other would give your opponent them or possibly both could give points. they have added this to maps already so why not objects.

if you attend cons at all keep an eye out for something called a delve. i've played in one delve (at con-quest in norcal) and watched another (at gencon socal) and they are a remarkable amount of fun. random treasures and fiendish political manuevering are the order of the day for the delve and it's a fun break from competitive skirmishing.

Warhammer Fantasy had cards with magic items (armor, weapons, scrolls, rings, misc items) on them that could be purchased for heros as part of the armies cost(they probably still do - It's just been so long since I have played!), and this was one aspect of the game I really liked because you could have a lot of variety just by changing the items your heros carried. For spellcasters you could also pick a number of spells based on the character level (from a limited selection based on faction).

For DDM I think it would be cool if they had cards with equippable magic items/weapons that you could purchase as part of warband building. However, with WoTCs focus on simplifying the game, I don't see this ever happening at the tournament scene level. There are rules in the miniatures handbook for including magic items if you are running a skirmish campaign... a little different than what you propose, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

If WOTC wanted to sell items for DND use, say chests, chairs, doors, and stuff like that I would be happy. However if they did that for DND minis it would be a waste. I don't know why they would bother. Plus adding magic items would seriously upset the balance of the game.

I agree. They cost figures based on a lot of assumptions, and if you throw another huge variable in it would just make things worse. The only way I could see it possibly working is if they had a list of items by faction. That way certain factions may pay more for a particular item, or not be able to use it at all due to alignment restrictions. Cool idea though.

Part, not all, of my movement away from Mechwarrior to DDM was the increasing complexity of the pilots and gear. Not only did you have to be aware of the units with the best stats, you had to know what gear would make them super-powerful when added to the mixture. You also had to deal with the in game factor of players not equipping the gear properly so that you knew who had what when it mattered.
I like better what they did with the multiple dials for the figures in mage knight. Kind of like the epic cards for DDM. You would be able to use the same figure for say, Redgar with +1 greatsword and power attack feats or Redgar with normal greatsword, but expertise and magical armor.

I don't want magic items per se, but I'd like:

dungeon accessories for roleplaying and even skirmish. I think more 3D would be great. I would not probably buy these randomly packaged.

In Heroscape, they have glyphs that are turned upside down and place around the "map". Many of the scenarios involve not just killing, but also trying to find the right glyphs - so you can win by defeating your enemy, or by accomplishing the assigned task. I actually like that, and think DDM could use more scenarios.
