| | nice dwarf build and i really love the gold dwarves. They are great and durable for there cost. Nice build against ravagers or the other giants. Watch out for an Inspired Frenzy band tho. One critical = death. | | Champion of Bruenor Battlehammer | |

| I played a dwarf band using the BPM in 8 activations, it looked like this
BPM 43 Eberk 16 Dwarf Phalanx x2 24 Dwarf Ancestor 49 Dwarf Artificer 21 Gold Dwarf soldier 17 Gold Dwarf Fighter 29 8 activations, 199 points
I used the dwarf arti cuz i play in a helmed horror/marut/clay golem metagame. If not, id replace him with a GDS and replace the GDF with a Dwarf Samurai, or a Sergeant. DPS + Retaliate = not bad.

| BPM 43 Dw Ancestor 49 Loyal Earth E. 34 Artificier 21 3xDPS 36 Gold Dwarf Soldier 17
Huge AC's to stand in front of the Elemental and a G Magic Weapon. Lot's of pieces with Cleave and good HP's/Saves. Can move your entire band, except for the Earth Elemental with grant move action and with the Ancestor around, everyone get's the commander effect and is in command. Dwarven armies are fun, but still not really competitive. Speed kills and they have none.

| They are fun. I finished second in a tourney last week using..
BPM 2 gold dwarf soldiers dwarf ancestor 3x hill dwarf dwarf artificer dwarf sgt
Beat a burrowing band and lost in the finals to couatl, justicator, iron golem. Lost cause i couldnt roll worth crap. Had to roll a 14 to take out the couatl and iron golem and not only could i not roll a 14 but i couldnt roll a 10. Out of like 15-20 attacks i hit 2 times only.
One thing about the BPM, everyone says dwarfs are slow but if you play a band that closes anywhere in range the grant move action rocks to get to there commander quickly. Thats how i won the first match. Underestimated the bpm and grant move and on the second round i had the ancestor on his single commander.

| | I would love to tear any of these bands apart with an archmage, beholder, or anything else that didnt care too much about the AC of its foes. | | | |

and there is a problem, ranged auto damage (the wand expert could also be deadly here,) this is why LG(and LE) need a piece that grants spell immunity- can you imagine making your big beater immune to Mord's Sword or EMM?? | | Call me: W.N. | Auto damage that bypasses AC will eat the band alive. Also, your gold dwarf's measely +8 to hit IIRC sucks too much for him to be a staple in the band. Just play against a titan piece like the marut or MP which will still hit you consistently and yet you can't touch it without a whole lot of luck.
Dwarven bands are fun, but far, far from being truly competitive.

| I agree that dwarves are still not there yet as far as tournament bands. Last 200 pt tournament I was at I brought
BPM Rikka JA Couatl 2x Gold Dwarf Soldier 3x Hill Dwarf Man at arms
I struggled to gain tile points in the plunder/assault rounds (we play triad in the twin cities) but creamed a CE beater band in cave of pain. If I play this band again, I probably would replace the JA with a gith monk to guarantee first round tile points. I might revisit this band when the move to 8 figs is made.
I think dwarves are going to get a huge boost though when the move to 8 figs is made. Gold Dwarf Soldier seems tailor made to be heavy fodder in an 8 fig band.

| | How about adding a Couatl or Iron Golem to the Dwarves? You gain the much needed energy protection or Spell/Fire Immunity. And there is always the Azer to protect against Gauths. The downside is this is not a pure Dwarf band anymore. | | German championship 12.05.07 in Berlin --------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to play DDM in Berlin, Germany? http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/dndminisberlin/ | |
