Here's a band i'm considering playing in an 8 man tourny-like thing tomorrow night (seperate games or maybe one big 4v4 at one point):
8-figure limit
Balor 95pts
Orc Champion 39pts
Eye of Gruumsh 44pts
Orc Savage 7pts
Orc Warrior 3pts
Cursed Spirit 11pts
Run down on the dudes
Balor
- The intimidator. He is the main commander to up your activations due to enslave. Don't through him into melee. A good commander assassin while the others hold there own.
Eye of Gruumsh
- The semi-helpful morale boost to the balor but not the main point. Damage booster to all your orcs. He's one of your hitters paired with the Orc Champ. All the orcs can flank if you choose while the spirit and balor come on the other end but not sure i'd split the force.
Orc Champ
- Hitter. The Eye, him and the Balor are the core of this band (as you can obviously see :)). He helps cause morales faster and efficiently for his cost.
Cursed Spirit
- Save reducer and beholder screener. Nice paired with the Balor.
Assorted orcs
- for activations and boosts from the Eye of GRuumsh for damage. I would have taken out the savage for 2 more warriors but alas i only have 2 [:(]
Suggestions would be appreciated.
Champion of Bruenor Battlehammer

Lots of damage there but you've got to figure 6 activations will be difficult to work with when 8 activations will be the minimum.
A smart player will immediately eliminate your fodder thus giving you only 3 activations.
thats no good.
I like your Orc Warrior idea.
Since we are jumping to the 8 fig format, I've noticed lots of powergamers are trading away thier extra 10 Orc Warriors so they should be a little easier to get...
Aside from the usual "your warband is weak to...":
Monks
LE Quad Naga
CE Quad beats
etc... (pretty much the top bands, atm)
I think it will do fine!
Balor is an amazing sculpt and worthy of playing regardless of his 'competitive level of performance'.
Because your games might be a 4v4 tomorrow, I imagine it could do well despite the 6 activations.
