With the increase in high-AC LG pieces being fielded, is anyone considering replacing an FB in an Inspired Fenzy band with the more reliable Rask?

Consider how often an FB's second attack is likely to fail against ACs over 20. That reduces her damage output to 30. Rask is far less likely to miss, keeping his damage output at 40. Of course, this doesn't take into account the extra attacks from snake's swiftness or slapping hands, which are both common in this type of band.

Also, while Rask doesn't take autodamage, he also isn't Fearless. With an IM, he runs away on a roll of 1-7 after taking 45 damage.

I'll likely be trying out different variants of IF build soon, and just wanted to see if anyone has had success with this.

Fearless + deathstrike + aura of fear + possible 60 damage a turn is key! burn and low ac is the downfail, i really do think the +'s out way the -'s 7 to 2 (7 being speed, lvl, damage, HP, and 3 special abilities. 2 being burn out and ac)

The FB doesn't have a speed or level advantage over Rask. Rask has a better, though still laughable, AC. What I was thinking is that, since most IF bands use two (or three!) FBs, one of them could be switched with Rask if an LG-heavy turnout is expected.

I only have one FB, which is what prompted me to explore this in the first place. Still, FBs have their worst match-ups against high AC and Rask can help even this out. Against mid to lower ACs, he can stand behind the FB, eat the cover penalty and still have +12/+12 due to MR2. Plus if he gets his Stun off before the FB attacks... OUCH!

I think that the FB-Rask combo sounds cool, I'll have to try it.

Anyway, I think if your planning on fighting LG or LE, the Rask is a better choice, higher attack bonus on both attacks, and MR2 is nice. Hes really quite a beast when used with Drizzit

i think you should try to run both in an inspired army. i have used them both and feel that they can complament each other nicely.

i have done this. it worked for me.

I've used both Rask and an FB in a warband to great effect. And you're right about Rask +16 to hit overcoming those high ACs - Think Marut and Gith Monks with their AC's 25 as an example.

What's popular in my neck of the woods is FBs x2, Rask, an IM and 15 pts worth of fodder or the Satyr. With a band like this, I don't care what you're fielding, expect Rask to either clear enemy fodder for the FB's to close or worse, look forward to potentially an initial 85 pts of unanswered damage by all three. Yikes.

Rask really shines with the extra +5 damage from Drizzt.

Rask is also a strong addition to an Eye/Orc warband. You can bring him in with the Cleric of Grummsh or Orc Sgt.
