| I was helping my buddy build a no rare no doubles 200 point band for a tournment when I started looking at the Destrachen. This figure, with the inclusion of the Dark Naga seems to be much more useful now. When in range of the Naga's commander effect it has three cone attacks for 15 sonic damage at DC 17. There aren't a lot of figures that resist sonic damage. And then one cone of blast defenses, which lowers ac by 4 at DC 17. If only it had 5 more hp i think it would be a no brainer, but 60 is pretty good in a 26 point figure. AC 19 and an attack at +9 for 10 damage. Also not too bad. I like it, but what do you guys think?
EDIT: Maybe a band like this.
Dark Naga Chrall Destrachan x2 Duergar Champ x2 Kobold Miner x2
Thats a lot of large bases to maneuver around though.
EDIT2: The more I think about this, the more im starting to like it. If you were to use the drow outpost map you could plop that Chraal down on the bridge to block access and force your opponent to take it on whilst positiing your destrachen in a place where they can blast cones onto the enemy. Might need to tweak it a little bit to allow a Helmed horror in that could fly over and engage as well, but still I like the idea in essence.
Maybe: Dark Naga Helmed Horror Chraal Duergar Champion Destrachan Half-Illithid Lizardfolk (dc17 stun cone) Warrior Skeleton x2 | | Looking to buy some figures? Chances are I may have them!! | | I've always loved the destrachan. I'm a big fan of cones, and he's got plenty. One of my favourite 100 pt builds was destrachanx2, green dragon, snig, 3x goblin skirmishers. | | Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.--Dylan Thomas

| | Heck yeah. I love the Destrachan in skirmish. I don't think he's ever gotten his due. With a Dark Naga, he's excellent, I think. I didn't use him much in constructed, mostly because I was focused on other factions, but I never passed up the guy if I had him available in limited. | | "Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish." - Albert Einstein Champion of Myopic Half-Orcs Winner, WBC X | |

| | A Destrachan eliminated from going to GenCon at the Lakewood, WA qualifier earlier this year. So, yeah, I'd say it's a pretty good piece. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| | There is one problem facing the destrachan in constructed play at the moment: The couatl. This guy is everywhere mowadays and he pretty much makes the destrachan useless. If the destrachan were immune to sonic ( like chris mentioned) at least the destrachan could take some of the oomph out of the couatl, but he isn't. If you usually see a lot of couatls ( and tough fodder) in your local metagame you may want to reconsider using the destrachan. | | Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.--Dylan Thomas

| | Yeah, I kinda figured that you referring to shooting cones through each other...large bases and all. It just struck me that immune sonic would make him almost as bad a matchup for the couatl, as the couatl is for him....if that makes any sense to anyone else.....[:D] | | Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.--Dylan Thomas
