The idea is to get there quick and start bashing. Do you think Kord will kill enough before he goes down?

Kord really scares me in Epic, but not so much in formats beyond that (though he did kick my @$$ twice at the prerelease).

He swings once, for 30 damage, or 40 if you can get him to activate first. This means you'd have to fire off your GMA at the end of a round, and it would almost completely negate your chances of using it at the beginning of a round.

For example, with a Frenzied Berserker, you can either fire off the GMA at the end of the round, then hope to win init and cream someone (just like the strategy you would use with Kord) for 60 damage (theoretically).

OR... you could wait and see how init comes out, then if you win, immediately go for the kill strike by firing off the GMA and then attacking twice with the FB.

OR... you could push to the end of the round, out-activating your opponent, fire off the GMA and attack with the last activation of the round, hoping to either end the game, or win init and cream them again.

Using Kord kind of pigeonholes you into the first strategy if you want to make use of his 40 damage attack. One of the great things about the IM is the flexibility it allows you in your strategy (since you get another move).

The idea of combining the IM and Kord is appealing, but even in 100 point play, the kind of opponents you'll be facing aren't of the sort that you could end the game with just one attack from Kord (unlike say epic, where a pair of Kords could do MASSIVE damage and end a game in one round).

The other issue is that in 100 point, you're playing with a lot less flexibility in terms of construction. Kord eats up 65% of your warband's resources--for that I expect a lot. And after squeezing him in there, you're not left with enough room to maximize activations, which directly interferes with the IM's ability to use that GMA to mamimum efficiency. I like the Berserker over Kord, particularly in 100.

Just don't face any Urthok+Snig+Sniglets, all those little goblin are gonna pincussion your AoK to death in no time.

And you only whack one of them a round, and with a large base, I bet your opponent won't let you get to the juicy commanders...

I agree with the king...anyone that has a lot of activations and fodder can really get in kords way

Play and have fun, this hobby is an escape from the harsh realities of life

I feel that the FB is superior to Kord for non-epic play. Kord has some advantages.. but many of those are also able to be counted in his disadvantages (large size, speed 10). FB has one thing that would make Kord a substantially better mini: Fearless. Ive seen Kord route off the board in round 2 from a single (critical) hit. Thats alot of points to be down that early.. and you are missing your big beater.

I like Kord when you have a source of Snakes Swiftness in the band. Especially when paired with LG and the Coautl. His +18 to hit makes him a little more useful in Epic than the Frenzied Berserker, but in 200 id take the Frenzied in CG over the Kord. I probably wouldn't use him in 100 for the reasons mentioned by others above.
