| I need to make 12 Warbands that aren't necessarily Tier 1 They need to be competitive (DCI legal). We play friendly, most of the time, but we still want our warbands to have a chance. The warbands will be used as a pool of warbands that I will bring to lend to new players and players who need to borrow a warband.
I have every figure from the sets Harbinger up to Underdark, but not many repeat rares.
I would like the top submissions to have the following restrictions: 200 points, 8 figure limit No duplicate rare figure No more than 2 of any common or uncommon figure
I would hope to find 3 warbands from each faction, but exceptions might be made.
If 11 people borrow warbands I'll get stuck with the last 1, so build them wisely.
Thanks, md3

| Hmmm ...
Well, given your constraints this will be VERY tough. How about I don't touch the commons and let you fill out as appropraite ... but I'll give you a framework to use. Some of the key uncommons (Chraal, Duergar, Justice Archons, Red Samurai) would be best served in multiples ... as would some (specifically the chaotic) rares.
LG
Couatl, Marut, 2x JA, Cleric of Yondalla
LSD, Cleric of Dol Arrah, Mialee, Standardbearer
Young Master, Gith Monk x2 ... coming up short here ... are you sure you don't have more than 2 Gith Monks?
CG
You're kinda stuck here unless you drop a tier down from the other factions / bands.
Marshal, FB, Goliath, Rikka, Wizard Tactician, Graycloak/Stalker/Satyr
Archmage, Graycloak/Stalker
LE
Dark Naga, Gauth, Helmed Horror, Duergar x2
Beholder, Soth, fodder
Orog, Chraal x2, Efreeti (or Blackguard)
CE
Eye, Champ, Tiefling, Large Red Dragon
Ryld, Red Sam x2, Ravager
Lich, Death Slaad, Ravager or Zombie White
Not on the list but could be ... these are more spoiler builds
Greenfang as a CG commander - but this is not top tier Moon Elf as a CG commander More than one Goliath and FB Orc Wolf Shaman + beasties Red Wizard, Cultist and then a mix of other spellcasters is always an option Rakshasa + 4 Duergar (or Urthok, Snig +4x Duergar)
What's really hurting you is the "no more than 2 commons" bit. That's going to be a bigger pain than even the lack of multiple of the key uncommons. Do you really only have 2 of each common/uncommon or do you have more of 2 for some of the significant ones?
If someone could help take those to the next level of detail, I'd appreciate it. | | Triangle DDM Skirmish Group | My Email | 45-ish trades and counting | Stuff for Trade * * * Show your brother some love and click here * * *

| 64 Lich Necromancer 56 Clay Golem 44 Eye of Gruumsh 11 Cursed Spirit 09 Wolf Skeleton 07 Troglodyte 06 Kenku Sneak 03 Orc Warrior (variant on the band I used to qualify for nationals)
42 Couatl 81 Stone Giant 24 Cleric of Order 32 Justice Archon 12 Healer 06 Mialee 03 Man-at-arms or 42 Couatl 81 Stone Giant 14 Cleric of Yondalla 32 Justice Archon 31 Rikka, Angelic Avenger (latter has fewer activations and more trouble with saves, but it has more beef)
42 Couatl 96 Mounted Paladin 45 Cleric of Dol Arrah 10 Caravan Guard x2 04 Hill Dwarf Warrior 03 Man-at-arms (tough one to use well, I think)
27 Orc Druid 21 Tiefling Captain 39 Orc Champion 40 Red Samurai 38 Ogre Ravager 28 Grimlock Barbarian 07 Orc Savage (update of an old-school quad beater band)
41 Rakshasa 61 Iron Golem 45 Helmed Horror 33 Duergar Champion 10 Blue x2 09 Wolf Skeleton (eh, I don't like the fodder selection all that much, but my brain froze up) | | "Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish." - Albert Einstein Champion of Myopic Half-Orcs Winner, WBC X

| Christopher,
I have plenty of multiple uncommons/commons the idea is that I don't want to use more than 2 of any... variety is the spice...
Technically, if someone submits a warband like:
Eye of Gruumsh, 2 Orc Champions, 5 Orc Warriors
then another person submits: Ryld, 2 Red Sams, 5 Orc Warriors
If I then choose to bring these two warbands to represent CE, I don't want to get stuck with physically having only 9 Orc Warriors and the possibility of not being able to use both bands. | | "You are not the sum of your miniatures."

Greenfang Druid, Dire Bear x2, Celestial Pegasus, Graycloak x2, Timberwolf x2 (minions). 200 points, 8 activations. Everything benefits from the legion's magic fang and the Greenfang Druid's commander effect.
This is not top tier, but I've always done very well with it, and it's a helluva lot of fun to play. Dire Bears are fun toys! | | Jeff "Wayne Laredo" Wilder | Email | Have/Want List | Trade Policies | Are You an Ethical Trader?

| thats a pretty great list that Chris came up with.
As a 3rd CG band - Valenar, HEBI, 2x Elf Stalker, 2x Longstrider Ranger, Healer, Barb Merc.
Its not awesome but its a pretty solid ranged band with enough beef to keep shooting for a while. | | Minis... Serious Business Completed Trades (18 ) | Pending Trades (0) Ebay seller to Avoid –Fantasy_Quest_Dist

| Themed bands could also be fun
CE
42 DCoL 56 Draegoloth 29 Drow wizard 25 DAG 25 DAG 9 Spider of lloth 7 Sting of Lloth 7 Sting of lloth
200 pts 8 activations, wiz can MW Dragoloth if needed. Plus everything has conceal a wonderfully potential irritant for an opponent | | Play and have fun, this hobby is an escape from the harsh realities of life

I like, but since DCoL can do MW, too, (and they have non-stackable commander effects), I'd probably drop the Drow Wizard for a Mounted Drow Patrol--he's a good flanker. Then you could always switch one Lolth's Sting to another Spider of Lolth. | | "Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish." - Albert Einstein Champion of Myopic Half-Orcs Winner, WBC X

| quote: Take out a Longstrider for a Pegasus for a large-base blocker, one Stalker for a Graycloak, Healer for Aramil and I'd seriously consider it. It would do about as good as you could expect any other ranged band to do.
Wayne already used the Pegasus and there were like 5 graycloaks already mentioned... so I kept within the rules as described. but yes, was I running this I would use a pegasus..
But the Longstrider is surprisingly powerful and disgustingly mobile. Is there anywhere on a map that a GMA'd Longstrider cant reach? he can even take the long way around and get in well behind the lines and base the squishy targets back there. | | Minis... | Hey, this is a perfect format for all-unique bands:
87 Drizzt 52 Rask 33 Guenwyvar 18 Ember 06 Devis 04 Lidda
for max activations, drop Ember for Ialdabode, Ragnara and Mialee.
or LG:
46 Alusair Obarskyr 77 Ulmo, Lightbringer 20 Regdar, Adventurer 33 Guenwyvar 18 Nebin 06 Mialee
Again, you could max activations with Ialdabode, Ragnara and Devis instead of Nebin.
Okay, maybe these aren't the most competitive, but they aren't horrible. Guenwyvar, especially, is an interesting piece when commanded by Drizzt or Alusair, but I think all these uniques have a place in extremely competitive bands. | | "Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish." - Albert Einstein Champion of Myopic Half-Orcs Winner, WBC X

| Ack, how could I forget Rikka and Aramil? In the previous post, it might be worth dropping an 18 point unique for Aramil and Ialdabode, especially with Drizzt.
55 Ryld Argith 52 Rask, Half-orc Chainfighter 31 Rikka, Angelic Avenger 18 Nebin 16 Krusk 13 Aramil 09 Lidda, Adventurer 06 Devis
Eh, not so great. Now I'm probably pushing it. | | "Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish." - Albert Einstein Champion of Myopic Half-Orcs Winner, WBC X
