Surprised? Well, if you voted, or glanced at the voting thread, you probably shouldn't be. It was .... quite decisive.
Congratulations Chris! Warband Building Challenge IV is all you. Great band man.
I'd like to thank everyone who voted and made this thing fun. Even it it does kinda feel like I'm the country that won the Olympics [:)].
Also, a big shout out to Kyp and Nix for running the previous challenges. Nice job.

| So I have to make a confession.
Before I posted my band I paid attention to what some of the stronger bands out there were. I knew there'd be Helmed Horrors, so the Red Wizard was pretty much out. I also knew that Elminster really is a fun piece, but not really my style. I also knew that CE was going to be under-represented with most of the bands being LE.
So, I picked two Red Samurai ... figuring they would hold up well against the expected field. No one was going to run Ravagers or Champs ... and I just prayed I wouldn't get the Giths in a matchup. Chraals and Helmed Horrors though, the Red Sam matches quite well against.
I played the metagame ...
... and it was fun!
I already know what my challenge will be ... give me a day or so to get the thread started! | |

| Something to keep in mind is that the "head to head" voting style encourages people to play the (potentially very narrow) metagame instead of constructing "real" warbands.
Personally I find this exercise to be of more value when it leads me to considering the challenge in the context of the larger, normal metagame. I'd suggest a voting method change, unless the metagame effect is one you want, in which case go head on. [:)] | |

| | I agree with IanB, considering you have relatively normal rules for the warbands. If using something like "150 points" or "100 points, at least one Underdark rare", you are effectively creating a new format, so exploring the metagame can be fun. But in general, I think "real" warbands pose more of a challenge. | |
