Considering that Hill Giant Barbie is 78 points, what do you folks think we'll be seeing when we finally see the stats for the Hill Giant Chieftan?

Will he be 'sophisticated', with better weapons and better armor?

Will he be only a bit more expensive than the HGB, or will he be well above 100 points?

If he is a commander, what type of commander effect would you expect him to give?

Probably only slightly improved AC and to-hit bonus... but maybe deal magic damage.

I would guess he'd have a low 0 or 1 commander rating, but have some ability like "Hill Giant master" to let him command the Archfiends Difficult 5 Hill Giants.

CFX could be something along the lines of a save bonus or morale bonus to large figs, or giants/

I am betting he'll be around 100 pts, maybe a little more.

Perhaps Giant followers gain Overwhelming Size, since that seems to be the new "Pushback". No big in Sealed, but helps in Constructed.

And very probably has Giantmaster 5 or more.

When I think chieftan, I think spells. He might have some light spellcasting abilities, nothing too nasty, but handy in a pinch perhaps. Maybe a magic weapon or two?

I would have called that a Hill Giant Shaman.

He's a Chieftan for the Hill Giants, I really doubt that they would give him a CFX that grants a special ability that the Hill Giant Barbarian already has. Look back at Underdark with the Trog Captain/Barbarians and all the Drow synergy. The Hill Giant Chieftain is suppose to be used with the Hill Giant Barbarian.

I'll guess the following stats:

Melee: +15/+10 (25 magic)
Level: 10
Commander: 2
Speed: 8
AC: 19
HP: 205
Melee Reach 2
Overwhelming Size

CFX: No idea

And probably some other feat since I see Fighter Levels instead of Barbarian levels.

I'll go with the following as my speculation:

Cost: 98
Level: 11
Speed: 6 (due to armor)
AC: 23 (armored figure)
HPs: 180
Attack: +18/+13 (30)
Ranged: +12 (25) [][]
Melee Reach 2
Giantmaster 12 (what is needed to command the AF HG)
Commander: 2
Commander Effect: Large giant followers with giant in their name gain Ranged Attack +11 (15) []

He'd be very interesting in an epic game ...

I'm guessing he'll have something to make the AF Hill Giant usefull. Giantmaster or some such like was already mentioned. He may be able to bring in Giants from other factions as well.

Way too cheap.

Using King Snurre as a benchmark, I would guess the Hill Giant Chieftain would have to cost well over 100 pts if he were to have high atk bonuses (+18/+13) for high dmg (30) with uber hp (180) and good ac (23). What you outline sounds like a 125-130 pt figure to me, even with the lower commander rating.

Holy crap, I just realized, if we get Giantmaster on the HGC, then the oldschool Hill Giant is finally going to work with the Tiefling Captain (since ***master let's all other commanders command it as well). Yeah, you're not going to have a lot of points left after that, and it probably won't be as good as the Tiefling and two Hill Giant Barbarians, but... SHUT UP! That's why!

Barbarian already has class levels, so it's not impossible that chieftain would be about same cost or even cheaper. Not cheap enough to allow 2 barbarians with him in 200pt band, but maybe 2 old hill giants.
