| My LFGS is running a 100 point, no piece over 20 points tournament on Thurday here is what I am considering running, please comment:
Cleric of Yondalla x1 Gold Dwarf Soldier x3 Halfling Wizard x1 (added thru CoY warband building) Eberk, Adventurer x1 =100 points 6 activations
or
Cleric of Yondalla x1 Gold Dwarf Soldier x2 Halfling Wizard x2 (added thru CoY warband building) Aramil, Adventurer x1 =99 points 6 activations
let me know what you think. | | Life is like a dogsled team, unless you are the lead dog, the view never changes.

| I'd go with the second one but drop a Halfling Wizard for another Gold Dwarf. They're tough and do a lot of damage. One Halfling Wizard and Aramil should be plenty.

That would be the same as the first band but swapping Eberk.[:p] | | Champion of Prit(Wemic vindication is here) Minneapolis/St. Paul area Completed trades: Aspect of Cheese (Love that moniker), Tickparasite, Elderthing, Lalato, Sodj, Grimoire, SmilinIrish, Zeb, RWarehall,Link, wikkawikkawa, Auramancer, Rommers, HK, Ivid5,Qillan_dvra, Puggins, Arcabius, Ironfist Boulderbender, Robby, Corim Danex, monster_slayer, DNDJUNKIE, Kelemvor, Krush, ckissee, Massawyrm, hockey fan, Wish, Uninspiring Lieutenant, vtloon x2, Vrecknidj, Darthpoke, WakeXX, AnarionZell, lycusmike, papabear5 and umpteen local trades with board members

What a cool format. Regdar would probably get dusted off......hmmmm....Regdar and uniques.....Stonchildren....Dwarf Phalanx Fighters guarding Halfling Wizards..... | | Champion of Prit(Wemic vindication is here) Minneapolis/St. Paul area Completed trades: Aspect of Cheese (Love that moniker), Tickparasite, Elderthing, Lalato, Sodj, Grimoire, SmilinIrish, Zeb, RWarehall,Link, wikkawikkawa, Auramancer, Rommers, HK, Ivid5,Qillan_dvra, Puggins, Arcabius, Ironfist Boulderbender, Robby, Corim Danex, monster_slayer, DNDJUNKIE, Kelemvor, Krush, ckissee, Massawyrm, hockey fan, Wish, Uninspiring Lieutenant, vtloon x2, Vrecknidj, Darthpoke, WakeXX, AnarionZell, lycusmike, papabear5 and umpteen local trades with board members

| | I built a band with Regdar and all the uniques, in today's game they just don't stand a chance. I will probably drop eberk for Aramil and add a MAA for the leftover 3 pts. I will probably end up facing my own band though, my 10 year old plays in the tourneys as well an alot of times wants to run the same band that I do. Makes me have to get dupes of alot of rares, not that I mind that.[:p] | | Life is like a dogsled team, unless you are the lead dog, the view never changes.

| I'd go with the 1st warband you have there. I think Eberk's spells would ultimately be more useful that Aramil's when facing other 20 point or other minis.
Sounds like a fun format. [:)]

| | How many viable commanders are there for such as format? I can only think of four; drow sergeant, redgar adventurer, snig the axe and cleric of Yondalla. Are there any others? | | Robert Rosehart Champion of the pixie

| Maybe a Kobold band with Dual Kobold Sorcerers . . . that might be interesting

| Wow. Just...wow. CG is in big trouble in that format. Literally CG's only option is Regdar, who's pretty weak in this setup in general. I don't envy whoever takes on the task of building a band around him without using Rikka or similar. Maybe War Drums will offer CG a few 10-19 point commanders for CG. Commander 1s and 0s for all I care, but the option should be there.
EDIT: To comment on the band itself, I would argue Aramil is every bit as valuable in this format as in any other. Reason: Cheap CE beaters. Abyssal Maw, most Orcs, etc. Aramil can get his Nerf Ray in on them and make a huge difference in this format. He fills a role nobody else can do well in this format, as Ethereal Filchers would be 10% of your warband if you used them -- and they're not LG anyway.
May I make a suggestion? Consider running the second Warband (the double Halfling Wizard one), but replace the second Halfling Wizard with a Warforged Fighter. Adamantine Laced 5 is a big deal in this sort of game. With the extra points (4 total) you can fit in a Hill Dwarf Warrior or similar.
The Medium Earth Elemental could also be a strong choice in 100/8 with 20 points maximum, and the Celestial Dire Badger is worth considering too; lots of resistances, good HP, acceptable melee power. Low AC hurts, but not a huge deal.
3 mages out of 6 activations is probably too much, while Aramil + Halfling Wizard would be just right with 3 melee figures and 1 commander (the CoY). It's good balance. | | - Irrationally Fanatical Champion of Pegasus-mounted cavalry - Proud member of Team Low Tier Beasting: I play CG as my main faction! - Garland, TX 2006 Qualifier Champion My trading thread: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19725

| Go for my favorite band that I've always wanted to try:
Ochre Jelly x5 Grick
And there's a 200 point variant under old rules:
Ochre Jelly x10 Grick x2 | | Disipline is the only way to overcome chaos. Champion of Half-Golems Knight of Golems "This world is made for love and peace" - Trigun "anyway..shadow..you've figured women out. KUDOS." - raye_kino16

If you're gonna do that you need snig to boost the small guys to 10 damage.
Some combination of WFF/aramil/earth shujenga would work well too methinks.

| Well I went 4-0 and took a draw in the finals with the last person I had faced, there were some interesting match-ups. My hardest battle came when I had to face my son with the same exact army. He had me on points till I rolled crits on 2 of his Gold Dwarfs, he was not a happy camper. All was well when our organizer handed everyone an Epic Mordy card, he loves that figure and went nuts.
Thanks again for all the input. | | Life is like a dogsled team, unless you are the lead dog, the view never changes.
