| Sorry, I bet this was brought up many times before but I cannot get the search function to work... it keeps timing out.
What are some aspect of moradin bands out there for both 200pt and 500pt? I really like the mini and I hope to order one along with some of his synergy pieces if I could find out what they were :) | | Also a member of the official D&D forums at the WotC website

| I dont think hes that good in 200 points at the moment. The commander effect is nice, but he lacks the proper followers to grant it to. The closest thing to tier 1 we have is the Gold Dwarf Soldier, but the +8 to attack just kills it. What the aspect really needs is a decent 30-or-so point Dwarf follower, something similar to the Duergar Champs of LE...
But in epic, the Aspect seems quite playable. The latest Warband building competition (found here: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17218) features an Aspect of Moradin warband in every matchup, expect one. It has some good warbands in it that are worth checking out. | | Champion of the Sarrukh

| This player took first at a tournament. With a Aspect of Moradin band 200 pts.
Dan Mumma (1790) - 3-0 - Aspect of Moradin, Iron Golem, Sacred Watcher, Lantern Bearer, Hill Dwarf x4 - Dragon Shrine
It seems the weakness would be to swarm AoM and take him down fast that way you would eliminate the golem. Anyhow it didnt happen and he won. | | "Like a thief in the Night"

Aspect of Moradin 4x Gold Dwarf Soldiers Dwarf Artificer
Very solid warband.

Hmm I think dwarves just got more interesting. I'll admit I saw the Aspect of Moradin and said ah another RPG figure.. But...
Battle Plate Marshall Aspect of Moradin Axe Soldier (x4) Warforged Scout Hill Dwarf Warrior
Ok, first off you have a commander rating of +7, going to get choice of map and side more then not. Second, the Axe Soldier is a Dwarf.. I would have never guessed that looking at the figure. But unless there is a typo in Bifur's he is indeed a DORF :)
So you gain +5 melee damage via retaliate, +5 damage via stone lord (here is where map choice will help), and +5 melee damage via Close-Order Fighter (hence the reason to have 4). You also gain a type of "tactics" ability with four of them going together. Add on to that they have cleave and you can use GDMA to get them up there a bit quicker they end up being pretty nice.
Now granted you need to go 2nd, and have a wall near by but even with out that the Axe Soldier is a solid piece. If everything falls into place you'd have a 13 point figure able to dish out 25 magic damage at +8 or +10 with flanking with 40 hps and AC20.
If people are trying to take them out, they aren't hitting the AOM which hits for up to 40 a round and the BPM which can hit for another 20 around, all of that damage is magic also.
Could be an interesting band, don't think it's tier one as it's AC is over all actually to low for LG and it moves at 4 spd, even with the GDMA from the BPM.

Yeah, sorry, it's in the current buglist. Next release will have that fixed. | | Champion of the Phoenix! "By the leaking snot of Skurmsh[!]" - Teflon Jeff

| Dwarf Ancestor anyone? Maybe not enough for his cost?
I can see the tier 1 (or reasonably efficient) dwarf pieces are lacking. Maybe some future sets will allow some really solid builds with AoM. I think with that said, it is worth picking him up.
Are there any half-decent DWARVES to go with him however? Like a theme thing going on? Regardless of tier 1, it would seem a shame not to use his commander effect on anything but fodder. | | Also a member of the official D&D forums at the WotC website
