| I've been buying minis for several years now from a collector's/RPG-er's standpoint, and recently crossed over into actual skirmishing. My initial attempts at a Kermit-the-Hezrou warband were repeatedly squished by a friend's (also a newbie) Mounted Paladin/Cleric of Dol Arrah squad, and this is what I threw together in the hopes of regaining some face:
Rakshasa Mercenary Sergeant 2*Chraal 2*Duergar Champion
I've played it once, and very much liked the feel of it. With the understanding that I'm looking for something for casual play rather than a tournament-winner, any suggestions? | | "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."

| | From a casual standpoint this is a pretty nice warband. The only thing I don't like is the choice of commanders of whom to tie the Chraals to. Other than that, pretty sweet. | | Champion of Tavern Stripper Knight of Knights Squire of Death Giants Somethin-or-another of Big Arse Swords | |

| | Rakshasa is a good commander, but just not beefy enough to tir two charrls two. but instead of a new commander i suggest taking out a charrl for a Efreeti if u own one. or maybe a Zakya Rakshasa (nice theme hehe) I'd take out the sergeant if u dont have enough points as a second commanders is not really nessacry now a days. | | Poor student looking for minis =D | |

| While the choice of commanders might not be exactly the best with Chraals, it's hard to go wrong with a Rakshasa, and 2 Duergar Champs... Now, one thing I notice is that you're way under the 8 fig max, which can allow your opponent to either make you waste good moves before he actually acts with his big hitters. The Chraals are pretty strong figs, so it's not a bad addition either, but having 2 tied on a semi-soft commander as the Rakshasa (or 1 tied on each, which is not much better) is a bit overboard. Subbing the second Chraal for anotehr beater (a third Duergar Champ, a Zakya Rakshasa, Helmed Horror, etc) might help the army by making it less vulnerable to commander assassination.
Finally, the most debatable choice you made would be the mercenary Sergeant. The CFX is interresting, but in the end, I think yo ucould better spend the points with a 17 pts fig along with 2 Kobold Miners/Goblin WArriors/Goblin Skirmishers (use miners if you use victory areas. Otherwise, go for the others.)
So, you oculd end up with something like this :
Rakshasa 3X Duergar Champion Chraal 2X Timber Wolves Large Duergar
