| | if a beastemaster 7 is commanding a dire bear(level 8) and the bear fails morale it cant be saved? seems obvious but double checking | | The ROCK layeth the smacketh down. | Correct. Beastmaster 7 can command any animal or magical beast with the wild or difficult descriptor of level 7 or lower. Anything higher than 7 can't be placed under command by a beastmaster 7.
If i'm reading your question right, if the dire bear fails morale and the commander has a beasmaster 7(barring some other relavant CE) he will rout off the board because he can't rally.
EDIT: He can't use Commander rating for the first morale check either because he's not under command.

| Why LoT doesn't have beastmaster:8 is puzzleing. While Dire Bears would clearly be improved, they could use some improvement to reach tier-1. | | Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything. | |

Yeah they aren't tier 1, but I'd put them at solidly tier 2 (upper tier 2).
Also worth noting that If a Greenfang comamnds a Dire Bear, it removes the wild ability, allowing any other commanders to command them. Not that it's particularly useful, because it's a bit of a wasye adding in comamnders after the Geeenfang (whch already costs 25% of your band)!

| Try and play a few test games with the LoT having Beastmaster 8. It's still far from broken. In most cases the GFD is still better, check out this sample band.
Graycloak Ranger Elf Warrior Dire Bear x 2 Timber Wolf x 3 Elf Pyromancer Lion of Talisd
This band is way better with the GFD. He has higher attack, damage, AC, speed, 2 attacks and pounce, Level (!), commander effect is better in my IMHO when combined with LMFang.
My point is even if he was Beastmaster 100 he would still ride the fat one.

a lot...
Even if you gave the LoT Beastmaster 20 like the Greenfang, he still sucks! If you wanna play critters and magical beasts, then you gotta go w/ the GFD, no other way about it. | | Champion of all things Athasian "Don't sing it - Bring it!"

| | If you go with a 300-500 point game and want to run a druid-theme band, then you can possibly use both the LoT and GFD. But even then I feel like its a waste of 50 points... [B)] | | Champion of the Sarrukh | |
