I am very disappointed with Wizard's prize support for the qualifiers this year.

Not only are they not providing TWO free passes to the TOP 4, but rather ONE free pass to FIRST and SECOND ONLY, but they are awarding the travel award ONLY as coach airfare (which is worthless for those in Illinois more or less).

The travel award I can understand, but the reduction of passes is really annoying. I thought when they were talking about Dreamblade coming out Wizards PROMISED us that the tournament support and prizes for DDM would NOT decline. It really feels like we are being stabbed in the back.

Maybe there is a reason they are reducing prize support for the qualifiers that I am missing, but it just seems like support for DDM is getting cut.

I won't use the airfare, as it will take me 2 hours longer to fly there from Chicago with all the check-in and drive time, then to drive to Indy from home.

So I'd basically be playing fora $60 pass to Gencon, since it will cost me about that just to go up there, with gas and food, I've been considering skipping it entirely and just playing in the Grinder if I want to play in the championship event. However, I'd like to play in the qualifier, just because it's a big event and I like seeing where I (and the other QC players) stack up against a varied field.

OR

Shivan can let me mine him for points for the next few months until I hit top 25 or so [:)]

mine for points?

Can you explain that...i havent really used my dci card much since i went to gencon a few years back (always bring it to gen con)

Are the dci rankings per game or is there some overall ranking?

How would i look myself up?

Mining for points is kind of a slang for taking points from others by beating them. If someone is alot higher ranked than you and you beat them, they lose alot of points and you gain alot. Mining often is used kind of derogatory when players have a higher ranking than they deserve due to lesser competitive areas and alot of tournaments (not saying Kelly was saying that about Shivan, that was a joke obviously)

Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

No, definitely not implying he is a poor player. It's hard to get that kind of ranking around here without some good play, and our group is only getting better.

However, I am still 0-2 vs him right now.
