| Many of you may have already seen this:
http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20060420a&tablesort=1
It is a listing of all the minis, sortable by cost, faction, level, etc.
It's something I wanted to create myself, so I was glad to see it.
I've taken the data and pasted it into an Excel spreadsheet:
http://blaulb.com/dndminis.xls
I've added a few columns of calculations, just to satisfy my curiousity about the mini with the most hps/cost (Hunting Cougar), Level/cost (Sage--which finally vindicates the Sage as a #1 piece in one category), Commander rating/cost (Sword of Heironeous), etc..
The last few columns add all the numbers together. Column T, "Com-Eff" adds the Commander rating/cost to the other ratios; Column U, "NoCo-Eff" excludes the Commander rating/cost from the total.
Ideally, it would also contain attack bonuses and damage output. It would also put in a number for size (larger being less efficient?) and possibly a bonus to efficiency for being a multi-faction piece.
Anyone up for inserting the attack bonuses and damage for all the minis? Or, more ideally, anyone have a spreadsheet with this info that they'd like to share? | | Alfred O. Cloutier -Trading History - BLAULB!

| Great document, The_Duke. I'll need to spend some time contemplating this data.
But really, was there ever any doubt that the Sage is one of the best pieces in the game? | |

| Thanks for the feedback, maybe I will invite my friends to a "data entry party" and get the attack and damage info in there as well.
I don't know if any real revelations can be made with this kind of analysis, but it could help with rattling people's minds as they look for combinations based on efficiency.
There is a certain "playability" factor to each figure that can't be quantified by a spreadsheet. It must be something based on experience and "talent," or the ability to assess the worthiness of a piece simply by looking at its stats and special abilities.
Special abilities cannot be accurately quantified by the spreadsheet--any score will be subjective.
I would guess that Wizards has a spreadsheet like this, along with a rough costing system that allows designers to simply add up a suggested cost based on abilities and stats. I would love to see such a file. | | Alfred O. Cloutier -Trading History - BLAULB!
