| You think they are odd?
Man you have to be there...
All gamers played so damn concetrated, you faced a warband thinking "Ok, I'll win this easily!" and after 4 rounds you were 50 points back.
The never had so many tough opponents.

That's because the players there are good enough to win with them. I've never seen a Balor/Warduke + 2x Wardrummer Combo that was run so efficiently. It was a really, REALLY tricky band. We dismiss figures off-hand sometimes because they don't seem to meet our criteria for "UBER ULTIMATE SUPER AWESOMENESS" at first glance. Well, you quickly re-evaluate them when you run into a player that has practiced just with that figure to make it work. Maybe that off-hand dismissal is just the sort of strategy they're counting on. | The UK Scene seems to be a little more esoteric than the US scene. I think its because the players tend to have a more diverse gaming background; boardgames are more broadly embraced over there. | | Thanks for the memories. :)

Pawel had a *very* carefully thought out band for the 500 (and the Atlantic cup too), proving that with a correct assessment of the metagame, and some good play, he could beat bands that on paper it looked like he had no chance of besting. Who would possibly bet on Balor/Ravager/Quaggoths proving even slightly good in 200 at all?
