| I've been messing around with putting a warband together that focuses on mobility and single attacks. I'm lookng at some shoot and scoot warband ideas, but im not sure how to best do this. I've been looking at the Bladesinger for the commander effect and pairing her with figures with one attack, or that benefit from moviing before attacking. A few figures come to mind.
Xen'drik Champion Half-Ogre Barbarian Rikka Steelheart Archer Aspect of Kord Axe Sister Krusk Half Orc Barbarian Wild Elf Raider Elf Spearguard
So, any thoughts on how one might construct a band like this? Also are the new maps friendly to such a warband? I haven't seen King's Road yet, but I hear good things about it. | | Looking to buy some figures? Chances are I may have them!! Check here!! Kings Road is an excellent choice for hit and run bands. Rikka excels very well on that map. SH can hit and fly over the forest to safety not being effected by difficult terrain. As far as what type of band you want, I cant help you other then recommending Rikka and Kings Road. | | "Like a thief in the Night"

| Here's an idea I've tried in a couple of incarnations:
Nentyar x2 (94) Combat Module x2 (186) Tile Grabber Module (200)
OR Nentyar x2 (94) Combat Module (140) Archer Modulex2 (200) Map: Broken Demongate (on the assumption you'll want to slow down all the big bases), but be prepared to play any map.
Combat Modules A) Xen'drik Champx2 B) Rikka, Satyr
Tile Grabber Module A) Medium Astral Construct, Lidda - Rogue OR Elf Warrior B) Cat Folk, Lidda Adventurer
Archer Modules A) Steelheart x2 B) Steelheart, Greycloak + your choice of wolf C) Steelheart, Satyr | | Champion of Savage Bard (Unearthed Arcana: Bard Variant) Bloodwars Called shot (vindicated) Demonic Gnoll Adept/Priestess Old Jagermonster Saying: Any Plan vere you luz your hat iz a BAD Plan.

| Here's the thing about Ryld. His initiative is great, but every band I see him in kinda requires that he join the fray. And, when you do that, you subject not only your (likely) only commander to being assassinated, but you then also subject your band to losing that enormous initiative advantage.
If winning map choice is nearly essential to a band, then you might be running into a variation of the "high variance" issue that, fo example, Beholders run into. You'll lose some map rolls, and some initiative rolls, even to bands that have far lower initiative modifiers, and this could wreck your band's chances.
The Bladesinger is often underrated. Of the bands you're hinting at, I tend to favor those without Ryld than those with.
But, perhaps this is just my own beef with Ryld, who knows.

| At Winter Fantasty, I boldy predicted that high mobility bands on the teleport temple would cause a huge problem for new players. It hasn't come true yet as they have released some other REALLY good maps that rival the brokeness that is the teleport temple. I also didn't take into account that despite high mobility, you still need to grab tile points every turn or fall behind. Finally failing to land your map (and not a ton of people using the teleport map themselves) lessens its impact.
Still, after I qualify, I plan on busting things up with a high mobility band.
I expect some mix of: Half elf bow inits greycloaks Ryld (to nail the map) Rikka, Frenzied Xendrik champs Aspect of Kord Inspiring Marshal Evermeet Wizard Pyromancer Archmage
could get a suprising number of wins. | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! Check out my brand new blog: http://bshugg.blogspot.com
