Basically a creatures have to be completely in Forest to be guaranteed the cover bonus, if only part of the creature is in forest, your creature does not have cover against an opponent creature that is adjacent to one of the squares of your creature that is not in a forest square.

| Interesting.
FFF...
FFOO..
FFOO..
FFF...
Note that a Medium creature in the third forest square (top or bottom row) benefits from cover against the Ogre, but the Ogre doesn't get cover from it.
This clarification is an improvement, but I still don't like the way it interacts with Melee Reach. How hard would it be to say, "No cover if the nearest square that is subject to a melee attack is not in Forest"? | | Jeff "Wayne Laredo" Wilder | Email | Have/Want List | Trade Policies | Are You an Ethical Trader?

| Hmmm..... Guy and Shoe must have really been concerned by something. Didn't Guy say just a couple of weeks ago that he didn't want to make any other "changes" (as opposed to simple clarification) until after the season?!
Well, I think it's good... though I'm certain those who are playing in the first few qualifiers and had been counting on the old rule are a bit put out.

| Bad time for it to happen in theory, but I'm okay with it. If they saw something significant enough that it needed to be changed right now, I'll believe that and accomodate for the change. Sure, "Day before a qualifier" is a bad time to do it, but they must've seen a very compelling reason to do so. What that reason is, I don't know, but I'll give GuyF and Shoe the benefit of the doubt.

Sort of. I said to not expect a change on one specific ruling until afterward because quick changes are sometimes troublesome.

... which is why last-second changes like this can be troublesome.
However, I'd rather have all qualifiers* be played under the same set of rules/clarifications than some using some rules and others using other rules. So I stayed up late a few nights and slacked a little bit at work yesterday, and got a couple things pushed out the door. In this case, I think it's for the best.
*Since the EU tournament was effectively a qualifier, they obviously didn't use this new rule. But they're also not on the list of qualifiers, so I escape on a technicality [:)]

| | That's a good rule change. If you take it to the ridiculous, in the old ruling, a colossal creature could benefit from forest/cover by having only one square in the forest. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |
