I'm not sure if this is mentioned in the skirmish rulebook or where it is if it is but is it ok to voluntarily fail spell resistance and save rolls? Here are the two cases:

1) A beholder using its inflict wounds ray to heal Lord Soth. Would Lord Soth have to make a save taking a chance to halve the healing of the negative damage or could he just bybass it and voluntarily fail the save to take advantage of the full healing?

2) Say I want to cast magic weapon on a creature in my warband with spell resistance. Would I have to roll the spell resistance roll taking a 50/50 chance or could I voluntarily fail the save so the creature would automatically get the magic weapon?

If there are any references to these rules please let me know, thanks.

1. No. Inflict Wounds is a healing effect on Undead. You can also use it on Incorporeal creature and not check for Incorp.

2. No. Spell Resistance specifically says "may" as in optional. Spell Resistance All always applies however to all spells except those that say "Ignores Spell Resistance"

Both rules are in the rule book.

A creature can choose not to resist a spell (see glossary entry for spell resistance), unless, of course, it has spell resistance all. There is no such allowance for making saves. A creature cannot choose to fail a save.

That said, undead creatures do not save against inflict spells and special abilities. See the glossary entry for "negative". Negative damage heals undead and they don't save. Instead, they save against healing.

Not to nitpick, but I can think of at least 2 cases where creatures can volentarily fail saves: these being for a beholder's telekinisis and the drider's baleful teleport. Of course since the drider is banned, that's really only like one and a half cases I suppose...
