No, you still cannot start the skirmish Mounted.  I believe the Victory Points article on Mounts still takes precedence with regard to the Eratta and Mounted rules.Â

Nooo....

Can this be fixed in time for our tournament coming Sunday?

Otherwise it seems we'll have to change warbands Dordledum. First turn nukes are back, so it's back to playing wild mages and let the init roll decide who wins...

Edit: we'll have to ask our judge beforehand which ruling he will follow, the old or ' new'  one. I will contact him and ask him to send an email to everyone attending.

Well, as long as it says June 13 errata, it takes precedence over webarticles posted before June 13. Hope they'll fix it soon.

@ llarbal: we might have to ignore these errata for coming sunday. they simply forgot to include the new mount rules it seems.

I understand the reason it is not updated. It's just that some people might bring a warband based on these errata and feel cheated if a judge rules the errata are in error...

I think it would be fair if he made a judgment upfront to make sure no-one is unpleasantly surprised. It is not up to us to ignore errata, it is up to the judge.

I think it's safe to say that it'll work out fine, but you never know

Or maybe one of us should judge, but neither of us wants to give up the possibility to play I guess.

Looks like the errata update didn't go by enough eyes, or that those eyes didn't read enough questions on the Gleemax boards.

Oops.

I didn't bother looking... My guess is its been sitting on the shelf and they finally got around to it. I can't fathom they would do this on purpose again.

Where was this fixed?Â

Edit - I found the yet again updated eratta (June 13b 08).  I see they updated the Mount rules to match the VP article, but I cannot find in the eratta that one cannot start mounted.Â

The latest errata (13b) doesn't say if a rider can start mounted or not.
How is not saying ?fixed?

Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.

The errata document matches the text in the VP-article. The rest of the VP article is thus also still valid (as a source of clarification), at least IMHO.

no starting mounted!!!
I have no basis for a ruling but allowing a figure to start mounted is just not acceptable with the current mount rules.

The FAQ already has a sentence "Wandering monsters cannot start the game mounted"
If they replaced that with "Riders cannot start the game mounted." It would be both shorter & clearer...

The floor rules made no mention of VP articles anyhow :P

I agree that they are meant to be used but ... they are not mentioned on the errata page, or mentioned as a source of card interpretation.

Well, there is the line:
An eligible non-mounted creature adjacent to a mount can become a rider as a move action that provokes opportunity attacks.

Being the only way mentioned to become a rider in the article. So, one has to be adjacent first, otherwise you cannot mount. It's a bit of reading between the lines, but that's how I'd judge.

I don't think you have to read between the lines. I think it's straightforward.

I'll admit that you have to look pretty hard to find the "You can't start mounted" rule, but it's clear once you read through it all.

I concur with this.  Nothing is ever clear (except for plastic) in DDM.  There is no way WotC would go backwards and allow creatures to start Mounted.  To many things wrong with this.Â

I must admit.. reading the first post in this thread made my almost leap in joy at the thought of keeping my My Little Exarch-Ponies warband viable. But it is not to be, and for that, I must weep. The loss of a non-Wild Mage alpha strike saddens me. Ah well. On to bigger and better things, like the fact that I just pulled the Immolith, and now I get to figure out how to make him usable...

The only way to make the Immolith viable is to make him 20 points cheaper,

Being a week 1 noob to the game...

I was surprised at the question. Reading that errata it seems crystal clear that you can't start mounted. I'd almost need to see a rule that says "figures can start mounted" rather than "figures can't start mounted". I even toyed with the idea of maybe their being mounted versions of various figures that have higher points costs if you wanted them to start mounted. (or maybe just a special rule for mounts that said something like (+X points cost if this figure starts with rider)

From the context of many of the replies I'm guessing it was more of a blinded-by-fear of an old, hated rule comming back interpritation, rather than a verbatim reading of the mounted section of the errata?

Welcome to the game. During my original post, not all new mount rules were incorporated in the errata, they forgot a few. A day later, they corrected this. So if you look now, you wouldn't see the discrepancy. This entire thread is kind of moot now,
