yeah I know Kuurmit wasn't that original, but what name really is? (I promise, no getting into 1st year Comp Lit)
So let's try some more names
Guy Fawkes (CG Human Rogue)
Would be better for a fireball slinging mage....or at least someone with craft(Engineer) to make things go boom.[:D]
Dan Cooper | | Dan Cooper
For there is surely nothing so beautiful than the sight of a lone man facing single-handedly half a ton of angry pot roast.

Props to thee! Yeah, I think I'll use the name the next time I make such a character!

| Roahin Dhalm (Human Favored Soul or Cleric of Agriculture God) The God depends on the setting. Pretty Tolkienish...sounds good, probably looks even better. * * Fizztich Addlebee (Gnome Alchemist) of the Rockshire Addlebees *I hate the way gnomes are curently portryed...in fact, I pretty much hate gnomes & have never seen them as an interesting or needed race. That being said, for the lame way gnomes are viewed in 3.0/3.5/ dragonlance, it is okay,. It sounds tupid, which gnomes are suppossed to. * Sylik Fang (Kobold Sorcerer) Not bad, not at all. A little contrived maybe, but especially in a race that has child names given by parents, that are replaced at time of audlthood, it would fit well. Sylik Fang better be a real bad guy, one who has a high charisma but low morals!
I don't think name shave to mean something in a way we understand. Most names in our culture don't really mean anything anymore. So in a D&D campaign, the names could have meanings that have been lost over the years, but are still carried on. Some of mine & from my world:
Danj Ob'er Epic ( a very stong, clumsy & stupid human fighter who has none the less become the highest level PC ever in the campaign he is from. Ob'er has been adopted by the DM as a patrynomic device indicated "son of".)
Celebern ( Half elven Scout)
Beaurepaire de'Dandre (foppish fighter)
Gwendolyn Armryl (Human Adept)
Duroc Stedfall (human Scout)
Kedric Aethelberht (Human Warlock)
Baldric (Human cleric)
The first 3 are PC's of mine, the last 4 are the PC's my current campaign. Baldric has a last name, I can't remember it, though.

| Sylik Fang stats Str:9 Dex:14 Con:11 Int:15 Wis:12 Cha:17 and not a scrupple to be found. I like Duroc and Gwendolyn alot they sound like real names. I agree that names don't have to mean anything. I like them to be phonetically evocative of atleast some aspect of the Character. * * Some more Gruun A'ular (Half-Orc Cleric of Kord) Pippin Fairpipe (halfling rogue) It's the woman's first character Etramel (Elven Bard) This is also a first character Phil R. Smith (silly NPC name I came up with on the fly becuase I didn't bother to name the Smith the one time my players asked) | | Patience is a virtue and ignorance is bliss thus the world is full of stupid people waiting | |

| Gruun A'ular (Half-Orc Cleric of Kord) COOLNESS - 7/10. Too many Orcish names sound...silly and grunted, but the surname helps set this one apart. And it sounds good to say. ORIGINALITY - 8/10 See above
Etramel (Elven Bard) COOLNESS - 7.5/10 Good effort for a first character, and its not lifted from the list in the PHB! ORIGINALITY - 6/10 No surname (I'm a stickler there), but hey, first character!
I'll throw down two from my list earlier, Caius Sekessa (M Human Holy Champion of Sarish, a very weird kind of Paladin from Arcanis) Andropinus Ocipheles (M Human Conjurer, pronounced Oh-sif-a-leez. Oh, and he's headed for Alienist and is TOTALLY insane) | | Support awesome games: Play Hecatomb!
8-Bit Chibi Goths forever! Champion of Mephistopheles
"Sorry! I was tryin' to open these beans!"
My Have/Want List, (Updated July 6 2004, will be updated soon)
