| I don't think that Powerful Build should allow you to qualify for Hulking Hurler.
Of course, I also think any GM that allows this PrC is high. Kicking out 300d6 damage a round, reflex for half is just WRONG. Of course, I don't know your GM, so I don't know what sort of game they're running. The fact that they've allowed Racial Substitution levels turns me off straight away. | | Support awesome games: Play Hecatomb!

| | Yeah, it is pretty sick how much damage they do. And all they need is really big rocks or chunks of steel to do it. No need "wasting" precious gold on weapons. | | Sanity is a one trick pony, my friend, . . .but when you're good and crazy the sky is the limit.

I'll have to look at it again. It might be a good second option if I can't/don't do the warhulk. Then again, considering how often this PC plays (~3 hours/month) it'll be a long time before I'm even in a position to work on Prestige Classes. [:(]

| I think everyone is getting the Warhulk and Hulking Hurler mixed up. Hulking Hurler is the one with a thread on the WotC forums containing a build that does like a trillion damage or something stupid big like that. Warhulk is the one that gets +2 str every level instead of attack bonus, which is also sickeningly nuts. You can get some huge damage, but remember, not getting extra attack bonus means no extra attacks, so you're going to lose out on one or two attacks per full attack.
I'm not sure about the Goliath using powerful build to qualify for Warhulk. I could probably argue either way. | | Successful Trades (31) | Trades Pending (0) 12th Place in the 2005 Nationals, and I owe it all to the Minis Training Montage. Champion of Celestial Giant Stag Beetles

I'm toying with the idea of trying for the Warhulk PrC. IIRC, one of the pre-req's is size large. Does the Goliath's Powerful Build feature apply (ie. meet the requirement), or would I only be able to benefit when raging (and thus large)?
You can house rule anything you would like, but I would say it does not meet the pre-req for the warhulk. I have used an Attatch Warhulk as a villian (talk about cruel). I would love to see one for DDM | | First peon to make it to "Knight Warlord" Completed Trades -148-

You also gain abilities to hit into muttiple spaces so it makes up for not getting extra attacks. You make 1 (or more) attack but hit evey creature in 3 connected spaces, and that bost in STR gets you bonus to hit and DAMAGE. | | First peon to make it to "Knight Warlord" Completed Trades -148-

| | IIRC, from reading the definition of Powerful Build, it doesn't actually make you large, it just grants you the benefits of being large for certain kinds of checks. So, being just a Goliath won't qualify you for being a warhulk. Now, I haven't read the Mountain Rage feat, so I don't know if it actually makes you size large or not. In either event, it's probably up to your DM if being large while raging is enough to qualify you for a PrC that has a requirement of being Large size. I know for things like feats, you can take them if you only meet the prerequisites some times (example, you need the strength boost from raging to get your STR up enough for XXX feat), but then you only get the benefits of the feat while you meet the prereqs. I'm not sure how you'd work that for conditionally meeting the prereqs for a PrC. | | "Why am I all sticky and naked? Did I miss something fun?" -Vindicated champion of Tordek, Dwarf Champion | |

| Yeah, I was thinking (before I re-read the PrC description) that I might be able to access the Warhulk's abilities only while raging (and thus large size). However, as I look at the PrC, and see that there's no Base Attack Bonus progression, it would be tough to justify only gaining the strength increase (quasi-BAB) while raging. I wouldn't have had a problem accessing the sweep attacks only when raging, but the way the rest of it probably works makes it less appealing.
I don't think I want to go quite as far as Frenzied Berserker -- too much loss of control. I'm thinking now of taking a closer look at the Bear Warrior (we've got the minis for it now!).
