Ghendar: A chaotic, fire obsessed, Kossuth worshipping fanatic.
I had sooooooooooo much fun playing this character. The DM had all of us pick a "trait" for our PCs. I picked fanatic and I annoyed the hell out of the rest of the group by trying to convert eveyone I came across.
It was fun.

Dr Johann von Kruglor, Professional GENIUS!:
Hobgoblin Detective, self proclaimed Master Inquisitive, greatest inventor on all of Khorvaire and "Professional GENIUS!" He is actually quite good at his job, but his ego far outstrips his abilities in every department, other than combat. I have a ball playing him, partly my in-character voice (something I'm doing with most characters now) for him is a horribly cliched, overblown German accent. Mainly I love him because he's so much fun to play, and I love the fact that myself and another player can usually have the entire table in hysterics in short order.

The double act I pull with yet another player really completes the whole show, he's running Ernstenhans, Von Kruglor's (very) long suffering bodyguard and "faithful retainer". He spends a lot of time sighing and just shaking his head at the Doctor's antics.

Support awesome games: Play Hecatomb!

My favorite character ever was my first swashbuckler, Ruprecht, a fighter with an 18 Dexterity and a 7 Wisdom. Man, I could really get into trouble with that guy. The DM essentially invented Weapon Finesse (this was 2nd Ed) to accomodate my character concept.

He believed he was the rightful Prince of Chichester, who was put in a basket as a baby and launched out to sea to save his life during a palace coup. For days he was fed by dolphins and seagulls until he was found and taken in by a kindly fisherman. At least that's what his big sister always told him, and why should she lie?

He was big into revelry, and loved to woo beautiful women. Now for some reason, it always turned out that those women were damsels in distress, or powerful sorceresses, or con artists, but hey, that's a swashbuckler's life.

"Evil? How can she be evil? Just look at her!"

His running buddy was Tristan, a young elven mage-thief. I made a deal with his player that Ruprecht would go along with most of his schemes, as long as Tristan could pull off the deception. In other words, I was willing to play that 7 Wisdom to the hilt.

One of his most prized possessions was an Earring of Regeneration. Since he could heal from almost any wound, he was even more foolhardy than usual. "I'll get better!" was his recurring catchphrase. He even threw himself off a cliff to avoid capture.

Great times. I'd like to play him again someday.

One of the best was Stromgaard Donalsson - a Human Cleric of Kord from a northern barbarian tribe. He had an 18 strength, and was always running with a Bull's Strength spell (before being nerfed by 3.5).

He was a fun character because he insisted on using everyone's full name, and insisted others do the same. Every time we met a new NPC, I got to go into my big booming rendition of "I'm STROMGAARD DONALSSON!!! WELL MET!"

He also had this tendancy for blasphemy...whenever a spell didn't work or he missed with an attack, he would curse Kord for betraying him - only to offer bountiful thanks if the next attack scored.

All in all an interesting dude.

Hmm... Several come to mind but narrowing it down to the one I had the most fun roleplaying and fleshing out was a dwarven ranger/rogue and selfstylized explorer. Never got a chance to take him any higher then 3/2 but I had a hoot playing his persona to the nines. He didn't have the best of Charisma and when the dwarven party he was part of ran across some elves (of which he'd never seen/met one)... Needless to say staring and belting out "Would'ja look'n 'dem ears!" didn't help our exhasperated cleric who was trying to make nice :)

You see! There ARE others out there just like me. What? Why are laughing?

I played a bard named Mirror. He had a bad habit of repeating questions. If an NPC asked say, "What are you doing here?" Mirror would ask "What are YOU doing here?" I guess it wore thin because the DM killed poor Mirror. Fortunately he had a twin brother who came seeking vengeance. His name was Wat. Every time he was asked a question he'd say "What?" He died too. Fortunately they were triplets, so the third brother came seeking vengeance. His name was Noel. Noel was too stupid to put two words together, but that didn't stop him from trying. It wasn't easy, but I played Noel for 6 game sessions, and never said a word with an "L" in it.
Can you remember a scene from "A FIsh Called Wanda" where the guy is stuttering "k...k...k....k.... That was Noel's warcry. He never could say "Kill".

I have always been here.

Was it the DM who killed the characters? Or the other players? [:P]

The DM killed Mirror and Wat.
Noel retired after a long and successful career.
