It's from either Complete Arcane or Complete Divine, I'm pretty sure Arcane. This feat is almost a must have for a Mystic Theurge, it was for mine, I took it twice. It has been a tremendous boon to my character. | | In the constellation of Cygnus, there lurks a mysterious, invisible force:

| It was in a Dragon Magazine a few months back... sorry I don't rememeber the issuee number. It gives you the effective caster level equal to your total character level but does not give you the number of spells of the higher level. I have to say that this feat is a bit broken. You could be a tenth level grunt barbarian who multiclasses to wizard and with one feat you are an 11th level caster?? Not game breaking, but it really has the potential to be abused something horrible.

I don't know about the Dragon Magazine version, but the more acceptable Complete Arcane/Divine (I think it was in both) version only lets you add 4 to your caster level (up to your character level max). Not a bad feat, especially for Mystic Theurges, Geomancers, True Necromancers, Eldrich Knights, or any Combat/Caster character. | | Successful Trades (31) | Trades Pending (0) 12th Place in the 2005 Nationals, and I owe it all to the Minis Training Montage. | The feat is in both Complete Arcane and Complete Divine.
And, yes, it is great! [:)]
It also works well for Paladins and Rangers.

| As for other feats that are great:
* Fighter-types: Hold the Line (CW) - get Attacks of Opportunity against charging opponents. [:)]
* Archer-types: Improved Rapid Shot (CW) - negate Rapid Shot penalties
* Cleric-types: Augment Healing (CD) - +2 hp/spell level healed. My first level Cleric of Pelor was healing 1d8+4 with his cure light wounds! That was cool. [:)]
* Humans: Able Learner (RoD) - buy all skills for 1 pt, though max ranks for cross-class still apply. I have a Diviner with a 18 Int... very useful.
* Elves: Elven Dilettante (RotW) - all unranked skills use as have 1 rank in. [)]

| Other sweet Feats:
Transdimensional Spell (CA and CD): For +1 to the spell level, I can hit incorporeal undead, and ANYTHING in an extradimensional space or a coterminuous plane? Essential equipment for any spellcaster in Living Greyhawk here in Australia! Plus, I love the mental image of opening up your bag of holding, and finding it full of a Wall of Thorns.
Close Quarters Fighting (CW): Really ruins the day of anything with Improved Grab. You still get your attack of op, adding the damage to your grapple check.
Rapid Spell (CA): Hurray! Summoning becomes viable. | | Support awesome games: Play Hecatomb!

| | I was a fan of the augment summoning feat, I think it gave critters you summoned and extra boost to their str and con. It works rather nicely with a Druid. | | Pathetic Earthlings. Yes I very nice feat, the problem with it is the prerequisite, not so bad for Wizards but for Druid, Spell Focus(Conjuration) is a total waste.
Now from Lost Empires of Faerûn, Greenbound looks to be a awesome feat for summoning.

| If you are a cleric who likes to get involved in a campaign, don't go anywhere without Quicken Turning from Complete Divine. Turn those undead as a free action, then cast a spell or swing that mace. It really makes a cleric a whole lot more useful when facing undead. No longer do you ponder, will I try to turn them, or cast a spell? Cheers | | I have always been here. | |

Practiced Spellcaster really isn't powergaming, though a lot of powergamers use it.
Example of non-power gaming
Ftr2/Wiz5/EldKn1
At 8th level you cast spells as 5th level? Bah!
It's kind of weak, now with that feat, you penetrate spell resistance and deal extra damage like you should be doing, since it doesn't give extra spells its balanced, IMO. | | Official Smiter of Min/Maxers and Powergamers.

| For me... it has never been about a single feat, but a combination of them together. Example... Weapon Focus scimitar, Two weapon fighting, Oversized off hand weapon, Weapon specialization scimitar, Improved critical scimitar, Improved weapon focus scimitar. Not quite all of the sudden, you have whirling death.

| | Mainly I took the feat to increase the duration of spells I cast. Those that are 1 round/level, like conjuration spells, tend to not last very long with my character. Spiritual Weapon get's cast at an enemy to hopefully keep it tied up for awhile why I take care of one of his buddies. 4 rounds later, the enemy is flanking me because the weapon is gone and he had some time on his hands. Now with my next level and this feat, the weapon lasts 9 rounds instead. I can cure more hit points per cure spell. Shield of Faith gives me +3 deflection instead of +2. It's not like the feat gives me anything new, it just allows me to work better with what I have. It will also help when I take one of the Craft feats (I'm thinking Wondrous Item) since I'll actually be able to create items useful to my party member's levels. | | Complete: Ha, De, Ar, GoL, Ab, Dk, Af, Ud, WD, DQ, BW Favorite Supplier "Indecision may, or may not be my problem." - Jimmy Buffet Champion of the Gibberling | |

| Improved Toughness for any D4 or D6 hp class +1hp/lvl is a huge boon for all the low HPs classes.
Battlecaster; be able to wear one level heavier armor then you normally could as long as you can wear armor. Fabulous on Warmages and Bards as long as you have the armor feat to go with it.
Obtain Familier: My newest favorite feat due to having made up a bard recently. I took a raven as my familier combined with my insane ranks in skills should be very powerful. I plan to strap a wand of fireballs to my raven and let it fly around and UMD the wand onto the battlefield with its 11 Int and ability to speak.

| Just created a character for a pick-up game last week -- a Warmage (offense)/Cleric (defense/util)/Mystic Theurge. Used Battlecaster, and Practiced Spellcaster x2 (pretty much most of my feats). But now his spells are typical for his level, and he can cast any of them in medium armour. In the few encounters we managed to get through, he impressed me.
It's all about the synergy.
