Spikegif: yes it is

I like this book alot. It has a wonderful amount of information on exploring the world outside of the nations. How the elemental ships work, how the lightning rail works, maps of them, etc. It has so much great information. If your looking for ruin exploring fun this book is a must. It really hits the areas of Eberron that havent been touched yet. I think this and Five Nations are the two best books to come out this year.

Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

You know, a non-world specific book like this would be great. I think so many possibilities and ideas for a "new world" type campaign have been ignored and really could use a presentation.

I'm hanging out for my FLGS to get their stock in. I have one on order. Last Tuesday I visited a not-so local FGS. They had one on the shelf and I browsed through. Absolutely loved what I saw and can't wait for my copy to arrive so I can pore over every detail.

Also agree with Aesoph re Five Nations.

I can't get enough Eberron material.

I'm still trying to figure out how I was born on this ball of rock called Earth, instead of Eberron - which raises an interesting question for another thread.

I have always been here.

I'm almost exclusively a Forgotten Realms DM/Player. I have picked up some, but not all of the Eberron stuff, mostly to use at "some other date" or with a new group of players (if I ever find one). I have the Campaign Setting, Sharn, and Five Nations, and I was considering the Explorer's Handbook. I guess everyone here pretty much thinks it is a good buy. Anyone disagree?

This seam so odd to me. I have played for 20 years and almost never have played in a pre-done campaign world. I never buy any campaign specific material.

Does this book have much to offer for non-Eberron settings? Or is it very much an Eberron specific book?

I suppose you could lift some ideas or concepts for a homebrew setting, this is very much Eberron specific. It's a fantastic book for those interested in the setting- I'm starting up a home game tomorrow and this book is going to pay for itself many times over.

Well worth the $$

I picked up my copy last week, and am really impressed. The artwork is fantastic, the background for material relevant to getting around Eberron is awesome, and the detail given on various areas in which to base a campaign is perfect.

This is a must have for those who enjoy DMing in Eberron.

One of the guys in my campaign was going to take his mage into the Loremaster prestige class. That was until I showed him the section on the Cataclysm mage.

Well then, you've saved yourself quite a bit of money. Wish I could say the same.

I've bought all the Eberron stuff because I find it interesting and potentially inspiring. I was fortunate enough to win a copy of Explorers Handbook at Gencon but haven't read it yet. I'm still reading my other freebie, DMG2.

WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :(

Yeah those so rock. The ones about surviving the drow of Xen'drik rule. Carry lots of antidote. Prepare to run. Run towards giants if you need too and pray the giants attack the drow and not you. good stuff/

Would you classify it as a "Fluffy" or "Crunchy" kind of book? [:D]

if my understanding of those terms are correct (crunchy being lots of rules and stats, feats, etc and fluffy being great filler and background material, stuff thats not the nuts and bolts but great story stuff) then its fluffy. very very awesomely fluffy
