| If you think you can use sneak attack (surprise, flank, co-operation with spellcaster), I think it might be worth it. Reflex save is also nice, especially if you advance to get Evasion with rogue. On the other hand, barbarian gets DR and other advantages later, so it's mostly about what do you wish from your character... Personally I think that a level of rogue does good for many characters. Tumble is one reason for lightly -armoured combatants.
There might also be a prestige class that might fit your character well, but I don't know them well so I could recommend any, if there is such. | | Vindicated AtG Called shot: 2nd Huge Red Dragon My collected trade reference links Star Wars tactical combat -project My modelling/terrain pages Suomen miniatyyrikeräilijät / Miniature collectors of Finland

| | im not sure, i am trying to make this character into a giant slayer, i find it odd there ar eno prestiege classes for that kind of thing, except if you are a gnome of course. His ranger level was for track and favoured enemy -giants, i need to be able to get past there reach, hence was thinking that some tumbe might be the go. | | BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS | |

Gotta agree Tumble would be your best bet! Plus the Evasion at second level is an added bonus. | | "I was sittin' here eatin' my muffin, drinkin' my coffee, replayin' the incident in my head, when I had what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity." - Jules Winnfield Sales/Trades Bad (1): Ironfist Boulderbender Trades/Sales completed (8.): Danthl, Dafrca, Garyaxe, qillan_dvra, realmaster, Vandal_Savage, cavedweller, unearthed arcana. | In that case, rogue sounds good. If you can also put some ranks in stealth and have good initiative, sneak attack is especially good. Giants don't have too good senses? If so, you could charge a giant at surprise round and deal sneak attack damage, and would probably win initiative (Giants usually have low dex, right?) and be able to do full attack with sneak attacks.
Damage output would be pretty good, so even 3 levels of rogue might do good. This way 9th level barbarian would do nice amount of damage, if you win initiative next round after attack -round, Str 16 Raging character with non magical 2-h sword would strike at +13(/+8) three times before giant can act, doing 4D6+7 damage each. Possibly you have magical sword and greater strength, and power attack, which can increase the damage considerably. | | Vindicated AtG Called shot: 2nd Huge Red Dragon My collected trade reference links Star Wars tactical combat -project My modelling/terrain pages Suomen miniatyyrikeräilijät / Miniature collectors of Finland

| | well hes lucky he has himself a +1 Bane-giants great axe, with 20 str(half orc) he can do a fearsome amount of damage to giants. So i am thinking 2 or 3 levels in rogue would be most welcome i have rolled well enough fo rmy barbarian hp so far 8,7,11,11, and 12 that the D6 you get for being a rogue shouldnt matter to much. | | BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS | |

| | I like this idea but remember, in taking the three levels in rogue, you're probably going to be paying an experience point penalty. If you are human, it will just be when you take the third level in rogue. | | The man who thinks he can, and the man who thinks he can't are both right. Which one are you? | |

| | Isn't there a set of tactical feats in complete warrior for fighting giants? Or is that just for gnomes? | | Champion of the Prestige Class where mages focus on telekenesis and start throwing people into the ceiling and uber stuff like that. | Don't know if it was ever updated for 3.5 (or if it needs to be) but there is the Foe Hunter from Masters of the Wild which might be what you want if you're looking to specialize as a Giant Slayer.
Complete Warrior contains the Tactical Feat "Giantbane" which allows a few interesting tactics vs. creatures 2 size categories larger than you.
As a last alternative, you might be able to convince your DM to allow you to take the (Gnome) Giantslayer class, with the possible limitation that some of the abilities will only apply against opponents two or more size categories larger than you.
