I think that monster campaigns themselves are high powered. Are you sure that you want to use both monsters and prestige classes? That could lead to some wacky high powered combinations--like the one you mentioned.

My campaigns are generally high powered anyway. I have a couple of players that really MAXIMIZE the rules. I always find ways to challenge them without overpowering the other characters. We've played 1 game with this Soul Eater and he seemed powerfull, but not overly.

As long as you're okay with it (and know how to counter it if necessary [}:)]) then run with it.
Personally, I would not ever run such campaigns, but that's a matter of DM style I suppose.
