Well, to me, it sound like a win/win! However, I'd still be a little irked if the dude hadn't at least talked to me about it first.

I would be happy to get to play, but I would definitely be upset that he expected me to buy the magazines (even half of them) and not read any of them.

I've always thought player's had all the fun. DMing is great but it is free-work; although I don't mind being the story-teller whenever I DM I still run one of my characters. I wouldn't really make much of a fuzz about it; he wants to do the work, let him; if he ends up being a poor DM you can always take over [)]

hmm thats a real bummer. Have you read any of the modules? if so I would have a hard time NOT reading the rest. Maybe you should suggest the Shackled city campaign for him. Its the same length and pretty cool. You can even buy the hardcover edition that has all the adventures in one source.

I am currently playing in this campaign online. (www.dndonlinegames.com)......pretty decent site and if you can get a good dm, games are pretty good too
