| I'm planning to have the party travel through a small town where the local Priest (a level 1 cleric) decided to try to sanctify the area of a long time (1000 year) haunting by building a temple and "proper" catacombs on top of the location where a group of settlers had been murdered by territorial elves. Little did he know that the god to which the temple is being built was the god of those elves and so he's only suceeded in awakening the spirits.
Following the Dungeon Magazine rules for a haunting (published in last month's issue...the one with the sexy mummy on the cover) the only way the player's can put this bad place and it's spirits to rest is to destroy the "heart" of the haunting. (some as yet undetermined religious relic of the settlers')
The poor 1st level priest had sent for help from the 2 nearest major cities but all he got was instructions, not assistance. in attempting to deal with the problem himself he's been sucked into the service of the "bad place".
An attonement spell will help him recover, but the party doesn't have a high enough level cleric for that... but they do know of one about 2 days travel from here.

| Yes i've been planing a horror adventure for a while now its just a strange coincidence that we are starting on halloween. One of the characters is about to find out she may inheirit a mansion near a strange out of the way town. It seems she may be the last surviving heir from a massacre that killed the entire family about a 100 years ago. One woman escaped into the sea, her great grandmother, and the place has been deserted and possibley haunted ever since. I have a lot of plans for whats going to happen but I can't go into any details as one of my players is a major player here at maxminis and if I warn him off it will just encourage him to read this (thats right I'm looking at you steven).[:)] | | | |

| Not quite on Halloween since its a Monday but this weekend I'm testing the waters of the Heroes of Horror book and running my group through the "Annalee's Baby" encounter from it. Ghosts and possession, not a bad way to start the evening [}:)] Works well since their heading inland to avoid a large swamp and are a bit off the standard maps so I can intro the village of Eastbrook fairly easy.
Someone else is cooking up a Plane of Shadow adventure we're going to attempt as well with our higher level group if we've the time (this one is a Planes/old Planescape feel).

| I started a mini-campaign around the beginning of October (with the sexy-Mummy Dragon magazine in hand), where the (1st level) PC's are recruited to figure out what's behind a series of "weirdnesses" at a recently-built wizards' school (called Ynfyd's Skein).
After fighting possessed food (pies filled with spiders or burning blood, french-bread shaped like swords) and wicked little voodoo dolls (they hurt the PC's by stabbing themselves with six-inch silver needles), the party reached the center of the Skein and got sucked into a half-world of memories/dreams created by a Dragon killed twelve thousand years ago, right before the God of Order began a war to take over the world.
The PC's have been flitting hither and yon through the echoes of long-dead cities, gathering clues as to how they can defeat the God's most powerful servant: a Plague Dragon called The White Champion.
Unfortunately for the PC's, The White Champion invaded the half-world last session, and is in the process of taking it over. Think Nightmare on Elm Street meets Hellraiser. [^]
Cheers,

| | Depends... if people ask me for a D&D horror game I may oblige them. | | Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror. | |

| | I totally forgot about the october issue. Some of the haunting stuff in there was great. I was thinking of running the granmda encounter from Heroes of horror myself, but flushed out abit more. The pc's are alittle low level for where cr is on that. | | I need a newcastle... | |

| My players are playing in Ravenloft with out them even knowing it [}:)].
Richemulot (one of the least Ravenloftish domains) is under heavey attack from Mordent. *It seems Lord Wilfred Godefroy has found an item that stops Jacqueline from closing her borders*.
I plan on the players realizing it on Oct. 30th as Lord Godefroy has enlisted a rather mean spirited pack of werewolves, and a local Lich is going to see this as his moment to seize the domain for himself. If that does not get there gears turning they will go on a reinforcement run (I love Heroes of Battle) into Falkovnia, and I know that name will get a response.
I found out early if the players know there playing in Ravenloft it take some of the fun out of it [)]. | | "...don’t try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal." - Zaphod Beeblebrox Champion of the Nymph!

| I was planning on running a one off horror game, but not necessarily revolving around Halloween. My father owns a few hundred acres just a little ways away. There is a cabin and a lake and absolutely no-one for miles around. I actually have all of the stats for two different d20 moderm horror games that I have been kicking around.
