Looking a Gift Horse in the Mush #2: I'm still not sure why they are giving this away for free, unless it's a teaser for a new "Classics" series... complete with mini maps? Yowza!

| I'm happy ToH is getting updated to 3.5. I am surprised that (on other boards) some people lament the removal of 'no save' insta-kill traps and effects. That just doesn't make sense to me. How could "insta-kill no save" ever be fun?
I'm not the biggest fan of ToH to be sure (I like the design of the dungeon and the pictures but a lot of it is arbitrary (ie step n' die, took too long and die, went too fast and die etc. with some confusing rules modifications).
I'd personally like to see Keep on the Borderlands (B2) updated or Lost City (B4 - with a complete work up of the underground society). | | Completed Trades: Crescent Hawk, Vimes, demagogue, vidman, Eric is God, Strachan Fireblade, FungiMuncher, Dudeeehm, Shasack, gausse, kyrin, nyjastul69 Champion of the Remorhaz

| Yup, just came from the Wizards site moments ago and was quite happy to see this adv for 3.5!
Can't wait to read through it and hopefully put some poor unsuspecting PC's through it in the near future! Some DM's enjoy meatgrinders. Killing characters without giving them a reasonable chance of success is silly in my opinion. But if you really want to make a horrible trap for your players, just make the trap have an insanely high DC with a death effect. Say Finger of Death with a DC of 30 and an attack bonus of 20.

I always liked the old dungeonland and beyond the magic mirror adventures and would love to see them updated for 3.5. For anyone who doesn't know both these adventures were D&D adventures based on alice in wonderland and other wonderland adventures. Stats for the mad hatter, the carpenter and the walrus, encounters with the catterpiller and the red queen. The part of dungeonland where the PC become living chess pieces and have to play and fight there way across the board(see Harry Potter but with monsters as opponents) is my favorite encounter.

| I love this conversion!
Yes, the instant death stuff is gone. But I think that's good. I'm very curious to see how my group reacts to it. Will they be as scared as I was? Or will it just seem stupid?
I'm afraid that I'm excited about it more from nostalgia than from it actually being a good module. But the pictures are cool. | | Champion of Acererak the Demi-Lich (w/ Epic Card) D&D minis gathering in Berkeley, CA at Games of Berkeley (every other Tuesday, and sometimes every Tuesday.)

| | There's still plenty of instant death stuff, from my reading of the module. The good ol' sphere of annihilation is still there, for instance. There's also the traps that may as well be instant death (the "teleport you naked to the surface and dump your gear at the bottom of the tomb" traps, for instance). | | "Why am I all sticky and naked? I have just the place for this one, too...Mathias needs some competition and Petrof needs a powerful foe.

That is awesome. Between the two parties I'm DM'ing, there are 3 people who are completely new to the game and only know 3,5. Ick...I LOVE IT!!! [}:)]
I have to say that with the addition of levels to monsters so many of these old modules are MUCH more dangerous and smart players have a better chance of survivial. Many times it is better to run away and live to fight another day...or so I have heard....[:D] | | Ambassador of FUN!!!

Yeah, 9th level? Based on the lethalness of the original, it seems this adventure should have been at least 15th level. | | WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :( I fought the snark and the snark won. I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

I cant wait to try it out.

| I like what they did with the lava trap. It used to be insta-kill, but now it's just a probably-kill. [}:)]
A monk with improved disarm could do very well in the animated weapons room, I think...
Players can do a lot more in 3.5, so it really changes the dynamic of the Tomb. Maybe surviving it is no longer the badge of honor it once was, but at least it's more possible...

| I've both played and DM'd the original, and after reading through the updated version, I think they did a good job of keeping the flavor of the original while improving the adventure in subtle ways. I was never a big fan of instant death traps, there should be some warning or save allowed.
I haven't looked through my Libris Mortis to check out the details on the monsters added to the adventure, but from what I saw, they should go along well with the theme of an undead tomb. Plus, drawing monsters from an obscure source that I know none of my players have means I may have a chance to surprise them.

| I love how they mention with the gender changing trap that creatures without gender such as Dromites are not effected.
