First time DMing and I am looking for some minor magic items to give to characters (under 2000gp) and was looking for some suggestions... Character types:

Goliath Bard
Shifter Ranger
Shifter Barbarian
Elf Wizard/Fighter
Human Favored Soul
Changeling Rogue

And this is an Eberron campaign. They may have another person join them but I do not have any info on the character yet.

+1 magic weapons or armor are always a possibility. But I'll assume you're looking for something more flavorful. Note that "CL" below for wands means the caster level set by the wand's creator (which sets spell affects and influences the item's cost).
* Any character could probably use a Ring of Protection +1 or Amulet of Natural Armor +1 (both have market price = 2000gp), also a Cloak of Resistance +1 or Bracers of Armor +1 (both price = 1000gp each) would be nice

* The Wizard/Fighter would probably enjoy a wand containing a 1st level spell such as magic missle (CL1, price=750gp), color spray(CL1, price=750gp), ray of enfeeblement (CL1, price=750gp, or CL2, price=1500gp). Note that new wands have 50 charges. 2nd and above spell level wands are outside your stated price range unless they have less than 50 charges (price scales as whatever fraction of 50 charges are left).

* The Bard, Favored Soul, or Ranger could probably use a wand of cure light wounds (CL 1, price=750gp, or CL2, price=1500gp).

* Most characters could use the extradimensional space of a Handy Haversack (price = 2000gp)

* Any of the spellcasters except the Favored Soul (who is a spontaneous caster) could benefit from a level 1 Pearl of Power (price = 1000gp)

* Any character would probably like to carry a Necklace of Fireballs (TypeI, cost = 1650gp) on hand to blast their way out of tight spots.

* An Efficient Quiver (price=1800gp) is great for anyone who'll be using many ranged weapons during his/her career

All these items and more (listed in order by price) can be found (including descriptions) at the following webpage:

Or check out the magic items section of the DMG.
Have fun!

Wildmage already mentioned the most useful: +1 armor/shields, Wand of Cure Light Wounds (or Magic Missile), Pearl of Power I, and Heward's Handy Haversack.

You might also want to consider Quaal's Feather Tokens, Bags of Tricks, or Boots/Cloak of Elvenkind. These are all more flavorful under 2000gp rewards.

magic armor and weapons are always nice. you could also try some +1 arrows or bolts. that way all your ranged attackers can share in the reward.

another idea ask them what they might want or who should get what.

Ie: all the player agree that the elf should have bracers of armor, it probly a good idea.

i just played in a mini adventure that had some smaller magic items in it:
belt of exertion (or something): +1 to strength for determining carrying capacity (400 gp)
ring of tongues: learn 2 new languages (rolled randomly)(500 gp)
pearl of power (as mentioned before)
headband of something: +1 to will saves (400gp)

Thanks all. You have been a great help. I was looking for flavor items more than weapons and armor.

if you're looking for more flavorful items, just design them yourself

for a bard: an instrument that grants +x to perform checks when using bardic music ability would be cool, or a hat of volume that increased it's range (not by too much) in honesty, i have no clue how much the hat would cost.

for a ranger, a torc of animal speech i believe is relatively inexpensive (i'd have to check when i get home)

for a favored soul, a wand of cure light wounds, or scrolls of the same are always good. a scroll of a higher level healing spell would be pretty cool, too.

rewards don't all have to be magical, either (in fact, some mundane, useful items can be better than magical items for some characters). masterwork equipment is fairly valuable, and half and full plate are worth more than almost any masterwork weapon. masterwork thieves' tools are always good for a rogue. alchemist's fire or holy water can be useful in various situations to just about anyone.
