| Can dragons, pegasi, etc still fly after taking massive amounts of damage. In 2nd Edition there was a rule that flying creatures could no longer fly (gain altitude, etc) after losing more than 50% of their hitpoints.
Any such rule in D&D 3.5?
Came up on that situation Saturday in a game where DM ruled that they could fly until unconscious unless we could show him the rule... which, fine DM can do as he please, but just want to prevent this in the future if there is actually a rule like there was in 2nd. So if you know where the rule is (if it exists) please point me to the source.

| In 3.5, there is no such core rule that limits a creatures
abilities based only on damage he's taken...until zero.
There are rules variants that Do take amount of Damage
relative to total hit points into account...but i've
not seen them in play for 3.5 and am unsure of the
legitimacy of such a variant.
There are also plenty of other games systems where this
is extreamly important. | |

| | It's possible in 3.5 with the "called shot". If a creature takes a penalty to hit, it can target a specific body part to try to damage. In this case, if an enemy succeeds in damaging a flying creature's wing (DM's disgression on how many HP required), then it won't be able to fly. | |
