| | If I am offered a job it will probably be for the beginning of Cisco's fiscal year, which is 8/1... So, yeah, September looks real good. I'll let you all know... | | "It's an automatic robot, based on science." | |

They want me to start August 1st, but with the baby on the way and having to buy and sell houses, dates are a bit fuzzy right now. It should be soon, though. Happy days... | | "It's an automatic robot, based on science."

| Nice work Dave! Way to go! (give me a buzz if you need a realtor, I have the best there is)
Good news for me as well. We were out of town all this week (just got back in an hour ago), closed the house.
Also, good and bad news on the job.
Good News: 4 day work weeks, triple current salary, great benefits package.
Bad News: Starts July 25th, 45 hour weeks in 4 days, have to pass multiple boards (which means studying all summer).
Anyhow, our move-in date is scheduled for July 9th. I'll keep you all posted. | | POST DISCLAIMER: Above post may contain humor. Now with micro scrubbing bubbles. Do not operate heavy machinery. No kidding ... geesh. Will you adopt me?
Does this mean that GenCon is officially out of the question? If not, I've got a spare ticket from the Qualifier that you could use to get in ...
Speaking of which, who all from RTP will be making the trek to GenCon this year?
Damn, I didn't see that either. 3 times, wow, yeah a real party. Have housewarming party, get alcohol, lol. Congrats on the promotion! I'll be at Gencon but it's kind of far to walk so I'm not trekking. I would drive but it takes a while, and I have to be there a day early so I'm flying, I already have my tickets.

Aye, very much a "lifestyle adjustment" for a guy that spent half-a-decade + living off a full scholarship and a 9K a year stipend. We're still committed to living very modestly, but I promise you that we'll have a great house-warming party.
Unfortunately (which I haven't announced to the rest of the DDM world yet for sure) the combination of building a private practice, being broke from buying a house, and the fact that the 2nd round of my boards take place the Tuesday after Gencon means that I will absolutely NOT be attending Gencon this year. While it saddens me that I can't defend my title, the part that I'm most disappointed about is that I won't be able to participate in the 2nd annual maximinis draft tournament.
Anyhow, we're due in to Raleigh this weekend, so I'll see you all soon. I'm most definately planning on being at the prerelease (do I need to preregister?).
Brian
EDIT: Dave, if you need a realtor, just let me know, we managed to find one of the best in the business down there. Honest, caring, and really skilled. We'd be happy to recommend her, she went WAY out of her way to make us comfortable in our new place. | | POST DISCLAIMER: Above post may contain humor. Now with micro scrubbing bubbles. | We're looking in the Cary area... My job will be in RTP (off of Davis Drive) and my in-laws live over on the east side of Cary. So, someplace mid-way would be nice.

Ah, I live in East Cary off Seabrook Ave. It runs between Cary Parkway and Maynard near Crossroads. It's about 20 minutes to Davis with no traffic. It's a nice neighborhood, lots of young married people and yanks, lol, so you'd feel right at home. | | William Triangle, NC AAM Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triaaminis/ Triangle, NC DDM Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triddmminis/ Triangle, NC SWN Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triswminis/

| | If I were to live over on the east side near All Fun and Games... Would it be faster just to take the highway around to where Cisco is? How long do you think it would be? (I'm guessing 30 minutes through Cary, but only about 15 or so on the highway.) | | "It's an automatic robot, based on science." | |

Personally, I think it would depend on how easy it is for you to get to the highway. Some parts of east Cary like where I leave make it easy to get there, but the further you go toward downtown it makes it harder. | | William Triangle, NC AAM Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triaaminis/ Triangle, NC DDM Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triddmminis/ Triangle, NC SWN Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/triswminis/

| We're looking at a house that's like 4 blocks from I-40. Really close to All Fun and Games.
Cisco is probably less than a mile south of I-85 on Davis Drive... I would probably be going there around 8:15 in the morning and coming back around 6:30 in the evening.
Thoughts? | | "It's an automatic robot, based on science."

| | also depending on how long it takes to finish 540 it runs right past the cisco place(I live just down from it on davis.) most of the planned homes have been pretty pricey right on davis, but usually you can take either 55 or 54 and get where you want to be in cary. | | Ad Astra, Per Aspera | |

| Alright, folks... I received my formal offer on Friday and accepted it today. It's official. I'll be starting my new job on 8/15 and I'll be in Cary on the 13th. I should be good for gaming by the time September rolls around...
Also, I became a daddy for the first time last Monday (7/25)... Everything went perfectly and Mom (Leigh) and baby (Lucy) are doing great!
Thanks for all the well-wishes! | | "It's an automatic robot, based on science."

| | No house yet... but we have our eye on one. We need to sell our house here before we can buy one there. That seems to be the last hurdle in this whole process. | | "It's an automatic robot, based on science." | |

| | Since I've been out of town, I'm not sure how turnout has been at recent tournaments, but hopefully it's growing nicely. A "MaxMinis Carolina Invitational Tournament" could be fun, but I think if we did do something like that we should do some whacky theme or something to make it more interesting. | | Quis custodiet ipsos custodes--Who will gaurd the guards? | I know Voss he shown up on these boards recently, he said he'd been trading on here but I can't recall his handle.
As far as tournament turn-out goes, I haven't been able to make many because of the Saturday afternoon thing but the League is pretty has been doing pretty well. I think Chris only signs up for the tiles though :)

Consider it done Dave. I'll hopefully come back with a couple. A bag or two would be cool that way I could get everyone one. I am also going to try to get some of the maps. Let me know if you need some stores to visit this month, we should work that out sometime soon. I would also be cool to have a delegate dinner or something sometime soon. I look forward to meeting you sometime after Gencon.
