All you need to know about playing Blix is you do what Gawain says, Cutter is your homey, and Lannister sucks.

| | As a serious suggestion of what to do about the Tome of Leadersheep and Influence, you could just have them bid on it (as you could with any and all magic items). The highest bidder pays their bid in gp into the pot, they get the magic item, and the other party members split the gold that was bid. | |

In general we haven't operated that way, not that they couldn't. Their choice.
More or less the policy has been magic items that are found go to the person who can best use or get the most use out of them, independant of material wealth they accumalate. At times it may make for some players having more than others but it balances out when they sell the stuff no one can use to get items they want.

| If Blix and the halfling wizard go at it, my gold is on Blix.
Giving items to he who gets the most benefit from it is all well and good, except when there is disagreement about who gains the most from an item. I say kill em all and let Wee Jass sort em out.

| Torchy's Take - Volume I
Torchy has been listening to you debate back and forth on who should get the book. Now listen to what Torchy has to say. Torchy's been around the world, torchbearing for adventuring companies from Waterdeep to Raven's Bluff, Torchy's seen it all.
This isn't the first time Torchy has seen this situation come up. Torchy remembers the time he was torchbearing for the Golden Griffon Company out of Arabel and they found one of these fancy books. After some debate it was decided the party bard Finicker could get the most use out of it. Three days after he finished reading it Finicker and the rest of the Golden Griffons were swallowed whole by a colossal green dragon. Makes you think....
There was this one time... Torchy was torchbearing for Dennik's Raiders out of Scornubel. Seems they found this fancy enchanted crown that made whoever wore it incredibly charming. Long story short a ten day later back in Scornubel Dennik and all his Raiders devoured alive by a pack of Succubuses. You don't want to hear what they started with....
Remembers Torchy of the time Torchy was torchbearing for the Silver Centurions of of Neverwinter. Their boxman Dannister found this pair of gloves, made his fingers move like lightning.... everything seemed to be okay. A month later they were exploring this dungeon and whammo, they're in this locked room with a Beholder. Dannister tries to pick the lock but it turns out the gloves were cursed and his hands fall off, he gets turned into a handless statue and everyone else is disintegrated.
Really makes you think.....

| Torchy, you are wise beyond your diminitive stature.
Gentlemen, I see but one recourse for us. We don't want to be turned into handless statues, succubus bait, or dragon snacks do we? I think our best option is to sell the book and divvy up the proceeds amongst our selves. Now, we are headed to Shadow-dale, maybe that Elmer Sinster dude would be willing to buy it.
With my share of the proceeds I think adding another floor to the Rusty Trollop is in order. | | "GameKnight Games and Cool Stuff Winnipeg's source for RPGs and minis!" www.gameknight.ca

| I was looking through the PHB and next level I get a higher level of spells (yay). My question to all of you is should I get a combat spell? Or should I get Lemound's Secure Shelter? With the shelter we might not have to buy rooms in a city ever again. Nallan would just summon the cottage and it comes with beds and a fireplace. | | Disipline is the only way to overcome chaos. | Torchy's Take - Volume II
That's an interesting question there Nallan, let me tell you what Torchy thinks.
Torchy remembers the time when Torchy was torchbearing for the Fabulous Fivesome out of Mistledale. They had a wizard just like you, learned him Leomund's Secure Shelter, slept in that thing every night. Seems this dragon caught on to his trick, waited for them to get in, swooped down and swallowed them whole cabin and all.
That reminds Torchy of this wizard Torchy use to torchbear for, went by the name of Gibey. He got him a fancy new offensive spell and everything was dandy. Then blammo! He goes to test it out, blows away the support beams of his tower, and is crushed to death. Really makes you think....

| Out of all the senses to not be able to neutralize, they had to choose muteness.
Gawain, what spells do you have that could be turned into wonderous items? With Murtyl's Spoon (item) and Lemound's Secure Shelter, we wouldn't have to pay for food or shelter. | | Disipline is the only way to overcome chaos. | Hey all,
Pizza works for me on Wednesday.
As to the book, I can live with Veil having it. No need for Lannister to go all ginsu on us. He might actually blow himself up with the magical feedback.
As to Lannin's request, I have access to all clerical spells, except evil ones of course. Have to admit I am not too keen on a Murlynd's spoon, as I can create fod and water with the power Lathander grants me. A Decanter of Endless Water would be interesting, however. before you go overboard, however, remember that you need lots of gold and xp for most magic item creation of the type you are thinking of.
Cheers

1. The name's Nallan.
2. The Decanter uses your spells or mine?
3. I understand the items cost a lot, I just want to understand what we want before we need it. Plus, when I go up a level I can take the appropriate spells for certain items. | | Disipline is the only way to overcome chaos. | Casey will continue to forage and hunt. Even if he is hunting for one!
If I get to throw in suggestions for magic items, anything anti-Drow or anti-shapeshifter would be good. Rings of invisibility for Lannister and Casey would be sweet! Also, if anyone happens to come across a magic short bow (mighty up to +1 would be nice too!) Casey would be most appreciative and probably cook up a very nice selection of venison and more!
As for the types of spells I'd like to see Nallan/Lannin/Lanolin learning, anything that would add to the above would be helpful. Large scale damage (fireball-esque) is always a good idea. Defensive spells are good. Long distance travel and/or communication options would be good too. I'm not overly familiar with the vast spell lists out there, but those are things I think would be useful. Also, perhaps keep some scrolls of Eagle's Splendour handy for the Bard, Cleric and Paladin. | | All hail the mighty Green Rhino!

| Long time no speak - hey dudes. Either my Dad's computer is slow or his connection is ...
1st - Torchy seems a might to lucky and his past employers a might to unlucky. Just saying guys ... 2nd - I was voting for Blix but I think Veil should get the book. 3rd - If Mike deems it Ok a mysterious courrier message is brought to the party from Felix - it is hard to decipher or open in any case until I can get a couple of things approved to Mike ... don't be scared...much
Lastly - My Dad is on the mend thanks guys. The Doctor says we will need about a month of observation to see if the minor surgery doesn't become open heart. So I am going to out a while longer - but things do look good. | | Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

| Blix should get the book as he kills lots of stuff compared to Cutter and wants nothing back ...
until he started asking for it ... was he whining Casey ... maybe but I think now Blix has declined!
Veil should get the book cause of the charisma bonus. I didn't really care for his - logical? - explanation but I do get that it should make the party stronger. But I think the cleric had some valid points earlier - good use of the book for the party is important.
Veil's heart has been in the right place much like Felix - albeit we tend to get things a tad wrong more often than we wish. We will become stronger players as the party mature's which is still happening.
Veil clearly wants to do the party right as he has been active in defending Lannister, singing lately to inspire and his combat has not gone unnoticed. He killed one of Felix's foes under his nose!!! We need more characters doing spell stuff anyway and the cleric seems to be pretty busy as it is (psudeo leader perhaps).
Well that is Felix's two bits ... doesn't buy him ale so take it for what it is worth ... probably nothing. Post again when I can ... probably be that letter. | | Stop monkeying around - thats my job!!!

| Shadowdale Light Fellowship Chronicles - part IX July 25 2007
First Person Narrative by Lannister Lazenby
After much debate about loot distribution, I take the Ioun Stone and Longsword of Thundering (Boom Boom oh yeah!). I’m starting to feel a bit better about the goblins taking my jeweled scimitar, but I still long for it’s supple feel. There are passages here, but should we follow them? I vote no, as I have a bad feeling about lingering underground any longer than necessary. This however means that my compatriots all vote to continue underground (sigh……). So we continue on.
Soon we come to a glowing portal. The footprints tend to mill around before continuing on. The new wizard Nallan determines that this portal will go anywhere the recipient wishes. Cool, now where should we go. Veil says he wants to go to the family farm and steps through the portal. Well it’s been a while since I was home….but nah, I’ll do that another day. And I certainly have no desire to visit a gnomish farm. Well, there is debate about where to go now. Casey scouts out ahead, and hears scary bug sounds. They vote in favour of following the orcs, even without Veil. (What is wrong with you guys?) We come to a door 8’x9’ with a triangle pattern in the centre, with a pair of black onyx eyes. I try to disarm the trap, but it turned my blood to acid (it burns…it burns..). Nallan figures out it is actually burning my bones. Gawain heals me up and dispels the effect. We need healing and Gawain patches us all up. We decide to take advantage of that magic portal and go to the crossroads above (with the trails) to camp. We each take turns…I ready my crossbow and step through....POOF!
Aside, for other readers who want to know what happens to Veil while Lannister and friends are exploring the other tunnels: Veil steps forth into a t-shaped room. There is movement which turns out to be gargoyles. A human female monk is stuck in some kind of paralysis. A fight ensues with gargoyles attacking Veil and his dog Munchie. Veil sends his dog over to bite the female, she wakes up and joins the fight. They all fight until the death (well, near death with those get-out-of-death-free cards). Soon, the rest of the party appears.
POOF! We appear in a room, find a dead Veil, a dead human female, dead orcs, and dead gargoyles. It doesn’t look like a crossroads. Somebody accuses me of thinking about my bar and getting us there. Too bad it doesn’t look like my bar, nor does it looks like Veils farm (either that or he has a weird looking farm). We see Gargoyles, I shoot, and hit in that critically good kinda way, with a slight glow coming off my lucky cards in the process. Cutter goes crazily berserkingly insane (he must be torn up over Veil’s death) and chops down two of them. He’s getting a little scary in combat now. I think about jumping in with my new swords, but I think better of it (uh…I just don’t want to be within 5’ of Cutter at this point) and shoot my crossbow again (and miss). He charges into the gargoyle, after Gawain moves out of the way. He cuts it down and then attacks Gawain, fortunately he misses. I’ve got to save Gawain, so I toss my tanglefoot bag at Cutter’s feet. I shout at Gawain to “save yourself” and get away from him. The tanglefoot bag doesn’t stick. I have a bad feeling about this. Gawain charms him, so he turns on me with a crazy look in his eyes, but he seems to pull out of it as he gets up to me.
I turn to search the human female for loot, but it turns out she’s alive. I pour a healing potion down her throat and bring her back to consciousness. She may not be cute, but she is fit. I tell here that I’ve lead my companions in to save her. She starts rambling on about there only being 1 gargoyle left. She’s not sure what her name is, perhaps she has amnesia. You know, Feena is a nice name…..
Gawain finds some secret magical portals, but says they are cloaked in evil. I pick up a dead orcs arm, and stick it through. It gets sucked in and swallowed with a strange gurgling sound. Ewww…. Nallan figures it leads to some demon infested plane. This time I think he might be right. We start to fight over why we are trapped here. I spend some time seaching, but find no other exits. Someone finds a note on one of the orcs. The note basically says (in Ignan, a language of the Red Wizards), Xerxes the wizard is directing the orc Gronk and company to search these caverns for “the crystal”.
We camp/rest for the night. Gawain tries to dispel the evil in the portal. Three attempts and nothing changes. Veil and I try to find out what the female monks name is, but nothing rings a bell with her. We basically hand around for a whole day waiting for Gawain to get spells back. I play Three Dragon Ante to help kill the time. Nallan tries to convince us not to breathe in order to save the air. We just breathe heavily around him and pretend to choke. The next day Gawain does the dispel thing, and senses the evil dissipating. He feels it won’t last, and we all rush through.
We appear in a room with a shimmering portal (it’s evil), a raised dias, a treasure pile (oops, loot pile), and some pillars. As I go to search, the portal shoots rays of vile damage at Casey. I’m really starting to hate these useless underground treks. Does anyone remember when I said we should we should go back above ground. Nallan thinks this portal is channeling the negative material plane. Gawain channels positive energy and the evil portal disappears for a few moments. Some of the group run over and grab loot. Normally I would, but I figure you can’t spend it if you’re dead, so I stay by Gawain. The portal re-appears. We have some loot, but can we escape alive? Stay tuned….
XP - TBD
