Has there been any indication about what Huges may be uncommon? It's annoying to see figs that we want multiples of be rare (at least it's not VR) but the real determining factor, is what are the huges that we will get lots of?

At the Star Wars Celebration 3...
One WotC rep said they will all be the same rarity.
Another said Obi Wan will be very rare and the other ones will be R and U.
Another one said AT-STs will be uncommon.

So who really knows?

Well, Rob is WotC representative who just announced that he had mistakingly told that AT-ST is an uncommon, so I guess that the rarity is pretty uncommon.

I don't know about the rarities, but we've heard that Rancor & At-St are rares. We've also heard that Obi on Boga would be a VR. In the best case, we would get one VR for 2 rares and one rare for two uncommons. If there are no other rares, we would get one VR, 2 of each rare and 4 of each uncommon in 33 boosters. That sucks. On the other hand, if Obi is a rare, markets will be probably flooded with Obi's riding lizards and nobody wishes to trade that for an At-St. In this case 17 boosters would get one of each rare and two of each uncommon.

But, who knows if we are following GoL path? one rare for 3 uncommons, wasn't it? Or maybe half (certainly most interesting part) of minis will be rare, so we would get into GoL -like distribution.

I've liked wizards very much for what they've done, but I'm afraid this will drop their status in my books a LOT.

It is most disappointing indeed... but not surprising. It is one of the selling forces of the set, most people will only want one or two... if everybody gets loads of them (I mean Nightwalker-loads), the set could sell poorly. Instead, the loads you'll get will probably be made of Reeks and Acklays (and those useless, uninspiring blue naboo speeders).

But they will sell the set at least as well as GoL...

I still wait to know about the rarity scheme. I think it would be easier for everybody if there was no twin distributions schemes like there was in GoL ("yeah I pulled a Rare Huge and a Fire Giant" vs "cr*p I pulled a Nightbummer and a minotaur skellie"), so that basically you were guaranteed in each pack a rare or a very rare, either huge or standard, but never both of them. SWM is already quite skewed between good packs and bad ones... buying a huge pack to get a "standard" rare and a useless beast would be terrible.

Cheers
Al.

I had heard at one point that the Rancor was meant to be VR.

I was pretty sure myself that the Rancor and Obi-One were going to VR. I guess I'll just wait untill they start announcing the set.

Rob reappeared and mentioned that At-St is rare, not very rare... that confirms there being 3 different rarities.

Predictions:
Obi on Boga: VR
Rancor: VR(?)
At-St: R
Hailfire droid: R
X-1 Viper: R
Naboo speeder: U
Acklay: U
Nexu (or was it reek that's huge?): U
Tusken on Bantha: U
Barc speeder: U

I don't like this... I've got no idea though how many of which rarity there will be, but this looks probable.

Well that pretty much sucks and I'm not sure if I'll be purchasing much of this set either. Have we even heard about other format types that will support the use of Huge Minis? It seems like some of the maps weren't designed with them in mind so they'd see limited tournament play.

It could be worse. I was figuring the AT-ST would be a VR because it is fairly complex sculpt. As a rare at least you have a fair chance of pulling on if you only buy 12 boosters.

I expect the hailfire droid to be uncommon. And to pop out of the pack with bendy wheels, but that's off topic...

Bendy wheels are repairable. I hope it will be uncommon. It is the one I'm more interested in anyway.

I like arena beasts as uncommons, but don't want more than one of each speeder type vehicle. And I want three rancors. But it looks like that guy is the HRD of this set. with Obi being the HGD.

I didn't need HRD nor do I need Obi [:)] But Naboo speeder is one vehicle I like to have several of. Maybe some of them will be modded, but it's the only speeder in the set and they surely will have use in RPG.

Well hey, if that's what you want I'll trade you my speeder for your rancor. [:P]

Thats true.... now I don't mind getting more than a couple speeders given that I'm going to end up modding them.

I'm not so sure that they've shown all the huges yet. There's no telling what other rares or very rares are yet to be revealed. This set is going to be way cool just like Giants of Legends was. So everyone should just calm down.

The list up there is pretty much confirmed. There's some 10-15 unrevealed minis in the set, I think. 60 miniatures, of which 10 are huges. 7 of them were up at an exhibition and other 3 were revealed too.

It would be nice if they were keeping a little surprise in reserve. But that's not too likely, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Yeah, but that was a 72 minis set...

On the other hand, you don't need more than one or two AT-STs for the Hoth battle... the issue is you need at least four or five AT-ATs to give it some credibility...

In addition to double-bed sized playing board? [:)] Battle really shouldn't be even, rebel victory conditions should be to help enough units and equipment to escape.

~50 Snowtroopers (which is few), 2 At-St's and 5 At-At's take about 1500 points, that would be pretty impressive view!

Well, I know at least 4 other people who are getting AT-ATs, I already have 3 AT-STs (albeith Action Fleet) and nearly that many Snowtroopers... so it is a given one of our league days will be Hoth Assualt [^]

I LOVE the beasties, and am getting into SWM for the sole purpose of getting the Geonosian Picodor and the upcoming arena beasts. I hope they are uncommon, I'd like about three of each! When will the previews start?

Good for you, jedijon, if those arena beasts would be rare they would still be much easier to trade for than At-St.

Wizo_Sith has been assigned to preview, they should start very soon... today? [:D]
