| I created a couple of 100pt loaner teams for new players based on the ROTS Starter (the easiest to find). When the League standard moved up to 200 points, I added a second 100pt team to each (avoiding duplication) so the squads can be played at 100pt gainst each other or combined to play against the rest of the League who are doing 200pt. The important issues were: 1. Stay on theme. 2. Be relatively easy to pilot & balanced. 3. Don't use duplicate poses. 4. If the squad "walked off", I wouldn't cry (No VRs, only low value rares etc.)
Republic A: RO15 Obi Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master RO03 Anakin Skywalker, Jedi Knight CS04 ARC Trooper UH03 Elite Clone Trooper 100pts
Republic B: RO24 Yoda, Jedi Master CS59 Wookiee Commando CS06 Clone Trooper UH01 Clone Trooper RO08 Clone Trooper 100pts
Separatist A: RO32 General Grievous, Supreme Commander RO27 Bodyguard Droid RO28 Bodyguard Droid CS46 Security Battle Droid CS29 Battle Droid UH06 Battle Droid 99pts
Separatist B: CS31 Battle Droid Officer CS42 Geonosian Overseer UH11 Super Battle Droid Commander CS47 Super Battle Droid CS48 Super Battle Droid RO39 Super Battle Droid RO40 Super Battle Droid CS28 Battle Droid CS30 Battle Droid RO25 Battle Droid RO26 Battle Droid 100pts
Haven't formalized any of the others, but I was thinking about 100pt Imperial with Darth Vader (Dark Jedi) & 9 Stormies...

| Vader & 9 stormies is always fun [:)] I was about to suggest it earlier but didn't have much time... Scenarios taken from the movies area always good choise, every scene just doesn't make perfect scenario, and they might need some special rules.
For example, if we take that vader & 9 stormies - recreating Tantive IV -scenario. 2 elite rebel troopers & 6 regulars are trying to hold imps (that come from one corner) off, while r2 and 3po and leia try to make it from one corner to another. Each droid exiting from opposite corner gives rebel player 35 victory points, and leia 50. Leia and Vader appear to the board both at 3rd turn. Imps win if there are no rebels left on board and they haven't got 100 points. I don't know how this was done at UM -book, but I think it could be made this way. I haven't tried this, I don't know if it's balanced [:)]
Mordantos already gave several good suggestions. You could also try Han&Chewie (&possibly a fringer or two) to fight a few bounty hunters & thugs. Does anyone know any details of when bounty hunters attacked han, I believe it was before ESB? I've never heard anything more than a mention of it, but I think it could be made a cool scenario. | | Vindicated AtG Called shot: 2nd Huge Red Dragon My collected trade reference links Star Wars tactical combat -project My modelling/terrain pages Suomen miniatyyrikeräilijät / Miniature collectors of Finland

| My recommendation is to start off slow. I'd use only a low number of figures because a higher number might be a bit complex. I'd start off with movement and then work your way to walls, cover, and the like. Then get more complex by letting him know how to use force points and the like.
I taught my girlfriend in about 2 hours how to play. I also recommend pulling out the rulebook for the basics as well as showing him what it looks like in game. I'd also work your way to special abilities because certain things can get complicated like having a Sith Witch within 6 of Rancor and then having Thrawn use his Commander effect to switch the Rancor and an AT-ST. That's a little complex for someone just learning. I'd take it by small steps with basic characters and the like.
Just my opinions.

| | If you have a RotS starter use those 6 pieces. Old Republic Ben and 2 Clones vs. Seps Grievous and 2 BD's. It has commander effects, melee, and range. That would be a quick way of showing him. After a game or two maybe each of you playing the other team. He should about have the gist of it. Except for a few of the bigger force effects. | | Champion of Jarlaxle Sets: Star Wars Year one complete,44/60 Champions of the Force,0/60 Bounty Hunters | |

| Thank Mordantos, my brother in law is wanting to try those out
Any teams for Rebel Storm era?
What is a good Fringe team for the Clone Wars Era? (i.e. NO Boba Fett/Jabba, etc.)

| I've done some 50 point teams to get peoples feet wet, lemme dig up the rebel storm stuff.
Duck and Shoot - 50 point rebel squad Luke Skywalker Rebel 17points Princess Leia, Senator 13points Rebel Trooper x4 20 points
This squad gives you some heroes to play with and Leia's commnader effect can be devastating. I generaly give this squad to the green player. I counter it with
Stormtrooper Assualt - 49 point Imperial squad Imperial Officer 14points Stormtrooper x7 35points
I generaly just march the stormtroopers in blasting away at the rebels. It's not a terribly good tactic for winning against Leia's shoot an' hide boys but it teaches the basics of the game. | | Pathetic Earthlings. For Original Trilogy I have:
"Let's Rescue the Princess!" UH47 Han Solo, Rebel Hero UH45 Chewbacca, Rebel Hero RS10 Luke Skywalker, Rebel RS02 C3PO RS05 Elite Hoth Trooper 100pts
"Under Vader's Command" RS21 Darth Vader, Dark Jedi RS39 Stormtrooper Officer RS24 Elite Stormtrooper RS36 Stormtrooper 1 RS37 Stormtrooper 2 RS38 Stormtrooper 3 UH41 Stormtrooper 100pts
Haven't added a second half to either of these to bring them up to 200, but am pretty sure the Rebel one will involve Wedge and Pilots (As I have 3 Wedgies [:p] )

| I have 0 from Universe (atm) I am working a couple of trades but nothing in house yet.
:(
so i'll have to substitute a few things here and there. hehe
I am trying to think of a good Fringe group that is not Rare heavy, like Lando and some Bespin Guards, etc. sometihng like that, that won't get completely slaughtered on the board. | | My Current Wants/Haves List: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2565

Lando and Guards are fun. From RS you might consider Quarren Assassins- They can be nasty. And a Twi'lek Bodyguard can keep Lando alive longer. And Mon Cals are good Double Shooters if extremely fragile...

| | So FeiQwan what sets can you use for the fringe army, and what rare fringers do you have? | | Pathetic Earthlings. | I have a complete set of RS, Clone Strike (minus Greivous and Dooku), RoTS (minus Anakin, Dark Apprentice).
I think feasibly MOST of the common/uncommon Fringe can be used for either era. But the rares i would like to limit somewhat.
Basically Lando can use his Bespin Guards but I doubt Utapaun(sp?) Soldiers would be much available in that era, or likely to show up.
Likewise Jango Fett wouldn't march up to Lando, etc.
But Narutalaun Soldiers could be in either, and such...I hope i am making sense, because i am only confusing myself more. | | My Current Wants/Haves List: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2565

A lando team is fun. We ran one this week and had him marching along with a gagle of besbin boys. I also included jedi luke from RS to make a pretty solid 75 pointer. Lando-RH from Uni. has the duck, run, and shoot effect and makes for a fun and solid team. The other team was made up of stormies. 75 points of storm trooper fun. The higher def. and atk make for more then a challenge for each other. Very balanced. | | -A. Swiercz [:D][:D][:D][:D]Trade Refs [:D][:D][:D][:D] [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]H/W List[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]
