I believe that ID are now adjusted to zero points. At least at the Massachusetts Qualifier, 2 players considered it, but then played anyway when they realized they'd get nothing for it (this after they checked with the judge...).

Congrats on 2nd, that increases the chance that I'll qualify as part of the top 25!

Last I knew, just Ian's post on ID's implied they PLAN on doing that, but haven't yet. Unless they changed the software and just didn't tell us...

Thanks. Sadly, I won't be able to make it to SoCal. I really needed that $250 to offset the cost. It's just too close to Gen Con Indy.

That plus the bizzare tournament structure (why is the only 200 point constructed tournament on the same day as Sealed Nationals?) means that I won't be attending either.

I am not gone.

If they got rid of ID it is not reflected in the current floor rules available on the web site, which should always be the gold standard of what to do. In fact their message regarding it sayd it would remain for the current championships, note the plural. I have no problem with it going away, but until they finally rev the rules it isn't gone yet. There was a one tournoment special ase for the GenCon championships, but it wasn't pushed into the floor rules (if the last modified date is to be believed).

The double loss option does make things easier to adjucate in the end. My thinking is that they don't want to release the new floor rules until they can pull the trigger on all of the War Drums changes, rather than reving it twice in 6 months or filling it with "effective such and such a date." I'm not going to start barking about "where are the floor rules" until late january or after they release the new War Drums rulebook so they can slap a big old "effective 1 Feb" and special case the pre-release to use the new rules. Sholdn't be much of a special case since they have given strong indication assult will remain the single format standard.

Thank you for your report sienar.

you will be missed at Gen Con. I am hoping to make it, so I guess we will have to wait for our rematch from last year. [:)]

Heh. You won the last one, but are the one asking for a rematch. We'll get together someday. I came out to Utah for the last one. It's your turn to come out to Colorado. [:)]

Asking for a rematch because you have become a very good player, I need to play good players to get improvement. I do not get to play often.

I have thought about the underdark prerelease and going out of state for it as UT does not currently have one and I would like some practice for Gen Con. I am currently working on getting one for UT, but the TO does not seem to be very active in trying. I am looking at another shop that has more pull getting something for us.

Not to rub it in, but we have several in CO. Just come to the one in Longmont. That's where Kevin and I will be.

Worse for me, my Wild Elf is 10 squares away, and the others even further than a single move away. If I am to activate my Feral Minotaur in round 2, I will have to use the Ghaele to remove sleep.

I'm not sure about this. What prevented you from moving one of your fodder pieces close to the minotaur in round 1 and then activate the fodder piece early in round 2 and wake the minotaur? Or had you already moved the fodder pieces in round 1?

I had already moved them round 1. To start round 2, the only figure within a single move (already adjacent in this case) was the Ghaele. I think the Minotaur was the last piece to move round 1. My opponent had me out-activated, so his Ogre Mage was the last pice to go round 1.

Well here’s the Colorado qualifier from my perspective. Unfortunately, my memory is a bit fuzzy for much of the Swiss games, but I’ll try to relate as much as I can recall.

My warband for the Swiss rounds was:

Hezrou
Justice Archon
Wand Expert
Dwarf Raider
Wrackspawn
Abyssal Skulker
Caravan Guard
Xeph Warrior

200 pts, 8 activations.

I used the tiles:

Rubble Assembly
Hall of Heroes
Ancient Temple
Shrine

Don’t remember much of what I passed on. Orc Wolf Shaman was my other rare, and I think my large uncommons were Weretiger and Feral Minotaur…or perhaps Blackscale Lizardfolk. I did have a Dwarf Wizard that I considered using instead of the Raider.

Round 1 vs. Mike Schaer

Mike was a new face to me, but not new to the game. He was running:

Ogre Mage
Djinni
Village Priest?
Direguard
+more

That’s a whole lot of conceal 11, folks. For this game (and most of the others) I started by casting blur on the Hezrou, and cast it on the JA second turn. This was a very blurry game, and I was ready to bank on my Wrackspawn’s blindsight. There were a good deal of swings and misses, and unfortunately, I don’t really remember what got killed. I know that the Djinni and Direguard were untouched, and I don’t think I had lost anything other than fodder. I think I may have killed the Ogre Mage, or he had a Minotaur that I killed.

1-0

Round 2 vs. Mike Nichols

The bad news here is that not only am I the one playing down, but I’m playing down against:

Cleric of Dol Arrah
Trumpet Archon
Village Priest
Caravan Guard

Once again, I blur the Hezrou and Justice Archon. After that, I move the JA aggressively out to base the CoDA. Too preoccupied with keeping the Wrackspawn away from the CoDA, I forget that one hit on the JA makes her a target for dismissal as well. Sure enough, she gets sent back to the outer planes. I manage to put some damage on the Archon before she trumpets and sends my Hezrou and Wrackspawn both routing. The Wand Expert manages to double wand the Archon before getting smacked and running for the door. Both my Hezrou and Wrackspawn rally, and end up flanking the Archon. Time is called at the very end of a turn, with the Archon at 15 life. Aggh! 5 more seconds! I know a loss this early is going to be very bad for me, especially since I still had to worry about facing sienar’s Ghaele warband and shemnon’s CoDA/Chraal/Sword Archon warband.

1-1

Round 3 vs. Don Adkins

Another new face who had played before in Colorado Springs. He was running:

Efreeti
Werebear x2
Talenta Halfling
Longstrider Ranger
Skeletal Archer
+more (Bugbear?)

This is the game where the dice went against me. We basically had a melee slugfest, with his Efreeti shooting from behind the lines. I missed his bears several times with the JA and Hezrou, while his Werebear crit my Hezrou 3 times! Thankfully one missed on the conceal. Efreeti flew around back, but too late to do much damage. I get in a few rolls that I need towards the end of the game, and managed to win by taking out a Bear + Halfling and keeping my hitters hanging in there.

2-1

Round 4 vs. Keith Tatroe (sienar)

Well, I was bound to face a Tatroe at some point if I wanted to do well. Even if Keith beat me, I might have a chance at top 4 if I could win my last game.

To recap, Keith was running:

Ghaele Eladrin
Troll Slasher
Feral Minotaur
Wild Elf Raider
Skeletal Archer
Caravan Guard

Keith pretty much explained it above, but I’ll go over it from my end. I opt for magic weapon on the Hezrou and JA this game, due to the Ghaele’s blindsight. I wasn’t too excited about moving my Hezrou in to base his hitters (it was pretty much in the middle of a three way intersection), but I liked the odds at being able to take out the hitters quick.
