| | I think it will depend - £20 is approximately breakeven for the rental of the venue and associated costs (prizes etc.). If we have attendees splitting the event, we'll have to relook at the costs and how they are distributed. Once we have a booking system in place this can be calculated. We also had in mind a reduction for students - this is reflected in the calculation that arrived at £20 - probably £15 for the weekend. | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

| Alepup:
I have to say I'm VERY impressed with how well organized your event is! Have you had much luck with Hasbro. Are you having a dialogue, or just asking, and not hearing anything back?
For what you guys are doing, the winner should certainly get an invite to Nationals (at the very least)!

| Thanks for the praise - it's been fun doing so far - now I need to find a way to man the event. [^]
Hasbro have been sniffing at the edges and not returning calls. I am due a call today with one of the organised event managers. Let's see if that happens. According to a brief conversation on Wednesday, they had been working on it. | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

| OK - Booking system is up on www.consupport.com and it looks good with Hasbro!
Discussions seem to indicate
1) This could be linked to GenCon qualifiers - the winners could get entry into the finals there 2) They will support it formally 3) They will provide prize support 4) They will try to get it on Wizards.com website formally - but that'll be more difficult due the Europe being a bit of a backwater as regards posting thing on it (note, for instance, no European Release Tournaments for Wardrums - but there are in reality some)
Nothing formal yet though.
FYI
Attendance (might look different from 75 - it's confusing to tell)
England 18 Germany 14 Belgium 3 or 4 Greece 1 Serbia 1 Spain 3 Italy 11-14 Finland 3 (actually, one is Canadian) Poland 1 Czechia 8 Northern Ireland 4 Scotland 2 Wales 4 | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

| Booking Instructions:
The booking process takes 5 steps:
1) Order the days you want to attend. If it is Both Saturday AND Sunday, add the "Weekend Booking" from the Delegate Run Menu to your cart. For EITHER Saturday OR Sunday, add the "One Day Pass - YYYYday" for your attendance. These events are listed in the "Delegate Run" Events Drop Down menu.
2) Order the tournaments you want to play in. If you want to play in the 200 pt tournament on Saturday, add "200 pt constructed event" one to your cart. If you want to play in the 200 pt LIMITED tournament on the Sunday, add "200 pt Wardrum Sealed event" to your cart. If you want to play the 500 pt tournament on the Sunday, please add "500 pt Tournament" INSTEAD of the 200 pt limited tournament. These options are in the D&D Miniatures menu.
3) Order the food options that you want. If you want the lunchtime buffets on the both Saturday and Sunday, add "Lunch on Saturday and Sunday" option to your cart. If either Saturday OR Sunday, select one of "Lunch on Sunday ONLY" or "Lunch on Saturday ONLY" instead! It is possible for you to bring your own food and eat there - this optional lunch is there to speed things up.
4) Dinner Party? If you want to be a part of the Party Dinner on Saturday evening, please add "Dinner of Saturday Evening" to the cart.
Finally, if you are flying in to the area to Luton or Stanstead airports, please add your coach options from the delegate run menu.
5) Order travel options. If you are flying in to Stanstead or Luton and want a lift to AND from the airport (in on Friday 28th and back on the 1st of May), select the "Coach from XXX airport - Return Ticket", otherwise, if you only want a one-way ticket, select "Coach to Birmingham from XXX Airport"
Examples:
1) I am flying in on Friday to Stanstead from Germany at 17:00, I want to compete the whole weekend, 200 pt on Saturday and 500 pt on Sunday, I want to have lunch each day and I want to be at the evening dinner.
Order:
1 Weekend Booking - £20.00 1 Lunch on Saturday and Sunday - £10.00 1 200 pt tournament - free 1 500 pt tournament - free 1 Dinner on Saturday Night - £12.50 1 Coach from Stanstead Airport - Return Ticket - £25.00
2) I am flying from Italy on Friday at 19:30 to Luton, I want to compete all weekend, I have my own food with me and don't need lunch, I want to play the Wardrums limited event on Sunday and I want Dinner on Saturday evening. I am going to London for some tourism on Monday so I don't need a bus back to the airport.
Order:
1 Weekend Booking - £20.00 1 200 pt tournament - free 1 200 pt Wardrums Sealed Event - £22.00 1 Dinner on Saturday Night - £12.50 1 Coach from Luton to Birmingham - One Way - £18.00
3) I am travelling up from London, I want to play on Sunday only in the 500 pt tournament and I want to get back in the evening. I want lunch on Sunday.
Order:
1 One day pass - Sunday - £15.00 1 500 pt Tournament - free 1 Lunch on Sunday ONLY - £6.00
4) I am travelling down from Manchester on Friday night and staying in a local hotel, I want to play the whole weekend, but I am too young for the Saturday evening dinner. I have my own food with me. I want to play in the 200 pt constructed game on the Saturday, and in the 200 pt Limited event on the Sunday.
Order
1 Weekend Booking - £20.00 1 200 pt tournament - free 1 200 pt Wardrums Sealed Event - £22.00

| Wow, what a great turnout! This looks like it will be a fun event.
Hey, if you fly me over for it, I'll be happy to sit in a small booth marked "Spank the Yank" and play exhibition games vs all comers. [)]

Get in line youngster! You get next year. :)
I'll be the pincushion of honor there in April. I'd be happy to run a Fenris warband though. Come to think of it, that might be a pretty swell idea.
Then all those "yank-spankers" will be able to say that they beat the former world champ with a warband designed by the current. Double the pain!
Besides, you could aways give me uh... like the uh
2x Roper 3x Large Monstrous Spider 1x Carrior Crawler
Warband to play with, thus assuring my embarassment and demise. [:D]
But the next year, I'll have revenge by sending you over with the 8x Fiendish Monstrous Scorpion warband (and I will find 8 FMS's!). [:D]

| Hahah
I was just kidding, are you really going over? Sounds like a lot of fun! I went to the UK once for a three week vacation, and it was one of my all time favorite vacations, a real blast. But playing minis while there would've made it better, of course! [:D]
Yeah, me going next year might work, because I would need about a year to convince my wife that I should go overseas for minis. [)]
If you really want me to design a band for you to use, I'd be happy to. [:)] I'll try to come up with something somewhat original, yet still vaguely competitive.

| Would have been great to have to both of you here! I know the Europeans DDM:ers would be chomping at the bit to measure themselves against the best!
Next year - maybe Hasbro will provide additional funding - and we can have the top few from North America here?
We're all really excited to have Kiddoc here and many are coming to game against him in the Atlantic Cup final and the Limited competition. | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum

Not kidding. I'd be honored. Plus, it gives me something blame all my losses on. *hides*
No seriously, it'll be coming around during qualifier season, so I KNOW you Cal guys will have a heck of a handle on the metagame, I'd love to see what you cook up. And, we can turn it in to an article for WoTC. How about we name it something catchy like, "Making the band" and we can have the miniatures vying for a spot on the team and vote them off the island and... and...
No more 32oz coffees for lunch. Zorch. I was serious though--and the article too. Once boards are over in March, I'm a free man. | To date I've had no notice of inclusion in the UK Championships. I've spoken to Kieth Anderson about this event but to date heard nothing confirming inclusion.
Might like to drop me a line to see what I can do to help. Plus I'm English to boot 8-)

| | OK - Hasbro UK are stepping up to the line. They are in progress of pulling together a number of items - to be confirmed next week, but on the early table of discussions are two prizes of £350 towards flying to America, Atari software (DDO?) and possibly more. | | One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :( My Collection My DDM Website And My Trade Refs Be a part of the UK DDM Forum
