| DO you know what the prize distribution is going to look like?
Speed 2 rule being enforced?
(Also, don't forget Iowa, it's closer then Ohio)

| I am head judging the event. We will keep the out of command speed 2 rules for now as we don't know what the "official" rules are going to be. I would rather keep things the same rather than do something radically different from what the designers intended.
I do want to use 8 activations and maps as they are cool additions to the format and we know how they are going to function. They make the games run smoothly and you get more action in. Plus this is going to be a large event held at a large venue. This will let us show off how cool are game looks when played on maps.
So far , for Prizes I know that we have:
4 hand painted trophies 3 or 4 archfiends boosters 8 or so Dragoneye boosters a case of abberations
None of which are coming out of the regular prize pool. These were donated for the event. This means there should be a boatload more boosters to give out paid for by the entry fee.
As the event gets closer I will have a better idea of how prize distribution will work.

| I'm getting close to finishing up the trophies; I'm 99.9% sure it'll be these four figures:
Dragoneye Ogre Ravager Chainmail Orc Champion (Tourney legal as an Orc Champion) Chainmail Grey Elf Wizard (Tourney legal as an Elf Pyromancer) Chainmail Hobgoblin Fighter (Tourney legal as Urthok the Vicious)
(I say 99.9% just in case I grab my can of black primer instead of clearcoat... [:p] ) I'll be posting pictures when they're done.
I'll be an assisting judge to Brad. | | Champion of the common Flying Monkey (Fez optional) Peter Lee on the WotC board BAD WOLF

| | Its a new venue, but the old one was HUGE. An old K-mart or something so there shouldn't be a problem with parking in the slightest. I expect the new venue to have the same amount of room. Peter Lee could confirm though. | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! Check out my brand new blog: http://bshugg.blogspot.com | |

| I unfortunately haven't seen the new space, but I understand it's a little smaller. Not too much smaller, but it is smaller.
A list of interested people might be a good idea. Should I start working on that?

| To add to the list of interested parties:
Anywhere from 4 to 10 from the Quad Cities (IL/IA)
4 is almost definite, 2 others are likely, 4 others maybe.

| Yeah I only listed the east side of the midwest. I will fix.
By a little smaller that means they should still be able to seat 200+ comfortably. The old venue regularly seated 800+ for Magic prerelease events! I don't expect to have to put a cap on number of players at all. I will call tonight and verify though.

I sent emails to Dan and Chad. I'm hoping AP will be free. If so, we could be bringing a few folks.
Is this going to count towards our DCI constructed rating?

| | Just on a side note: Pastimes is also offering league play on Sundays from 1 to 5. I have a suspicion that this is a "trial" event, and largely based on attendance. They only just started on 1/4, and nobody came the first day (shock... nobody KNEW about it). I'll be heading there this weekend in pursuit of a couple games. | | Thanks for the memories. :) | |

And, for more practical issues:

| There should be a case or so of boosters for first of mixed sets. Less for 2nd 3rd and 4th. I was considering trophy prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and best sportsmanship. Once I figure out numbers and what the venue will do I will have a better picture of prize support.
They should have decent bathroom facilities, they order in pizza for lunches, and they have drink machines on site. | | Looking for someone to cosponser a midwest DDM event. let me know if your interested! Check out my brand new blog: http://bshugg.blogspot.com

| I went to Pastimes yesterday for their DDM League play. Downside, only myself and 2 of my friends showed up (we had fun anyhow). Upside, we each got a Zhentarim fighter repaint and other things from old promo kits the owner had been hanging onto. Can't complain about getting a long OOP promo... now entertaining trade offers for it :p ;).
The new space is maybe half or even a third of the size of their old space. For their larger events (Magic the Gathering prereleases and tournaments) they will be renting other venues. The remaining small space is actually a lot nicer looking than the previous location. The floor is carpeted, and I think the overall noise level should be a bit more manageable. The fact that we'll be less likely to share the space during their other events means that we'll be making out pretty well I think. | | Thanks for the memories. :)
