California Open : (SOCAL Edition)
Saturday April 8th
Location: Dear Mr. Fantazy 1040 N. Tustin Ave. Orange, Ca. 92867
Entry Fee: $15.00.
Time:
Registration is from 10:00 am untill 10:45 am.
Tournament begins at 11:00 am sharp.
A "Second Tourney" will begin after ROUND 3.
Entry is 15.00 or COMPLETELY FREE if you entered the main tournament. The second tournament uses all rules of the first.
Tournament Format: DCI - Sanctioned. 200 point constructed assault - (please check the current DCI rules-set for Mar 2006)
Anticipated Prize Structure:
Tournament Entry: Everyone wins. Several minis/repaints to each player, with additional doorprizes distributed every single round.
(laminated maps, miniatures, card protectors + dry erase markers, t-shirts etc. - you get the picture! We doin' it!)
Main Tournament
Trophies for top 4. New Peter Lee Repaints
(never before seen)!
1st Place gets 8+ War Drums Booster Packs
2nd Place gets 4+ War Drums Booster Packs
3rd-4th Place get 2+ War Drums Booster Packs each.
5th-8th Place get 1 Wardrums Booster Pack each.
Flat tournament Prizes:
1st Place gets 4 War Drums Booster Packs
2nd Place gets 3 War Drums Booster Packs
3rd-4th Place get 2 War Drums Booster Packs each.
5th-12th Place get 1 Wardrums Booster Pack each.

| | I won't be able to attend an event in SoCal, but I must say I really appreciate that you come right out and state your prize support. The NoCal event simply stated there'd be good prize support before the 5th - 8th place players opened 3 packs between them. That of course was after waiting around to determine what prize support should have been. (yes, I was one of the top 8) I enjoyed myself at the first California Open and really appreciate the work the organizers of that event put behind it, but this event seems much better organized in that regard. Best of luck to all participants! | |

| I visited Peter Lee studios on the weekend (and also gamed with the madison, milwaukee and north chicago groups).
First, let me just say that the trophy miniatures are even more spectacular in person. While I think PL's justicator (from SOCAL) was insanely good, I now think the Ettin is perhaps a close second. It is stunningly good in person. The Marut and the Stone Giant have detail you just can't appreciate in the picture.
The chimera (not yet pictured) also looked great, even though Peter sort of rolled his eyes and said it wasn't nearly done yet. It will also be spectacular, and will almost certainly be picked by the event winner....
