| I'd go but yeah way too far. If you don't live in the eastern US you don't get a chance to go to much in the way of qualifiers.

There's a map of the qualifier locations in another thread that lalato put together: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=18040
The travel distance between the qualifiers in the northeastern part of the US is significantly less than in other regions, making it significantly easier for folks in those areas to attend multiple qualifiers.
The Utah and Idaho qualifiers are also relatively close together, but apparently too far away from AZ / NM for Rob to be able to attend.

This was my point when the qualifiers were announced. And it's not just that it's Idaho, it's the fact that it's the middle of nowhere potato farmland Idaho. Really a stupid place for a qualifier.

Have you ever been to Idaho? Twin Falls? I can think more middle of nowhere places than that. I think it is great that a place like Twin gets to host a event. | | Champion of Axe Beaks and Brownies

No I haven't. I have a friend who is from Idaho and he hates the state which is good enough for me. Twin Falls, Idaho population 36,742. Yeah what a booming metropolis that must be. [)] Every other qualifier is in a major city area of MILLIONS! It's podunk, BFE nowhere for people that live in a real metropolitan area. There's no way you can sell me on there being a reason for Twin Falls having a qualifier while Los Angeles, California which has around 18 million people in it's metropolitan area doesn't. Period. WotC was dense in putting one there. End of statement.

Mmmm no actually the majority of quals is in smaller cities.
Utah is in SLC so thats bigger Michigan was a pretty small city 22,236 outside of Detroit, but still a burb Toronto of course is a major city Richomond KY is outside of Lexington an hour (not exactly metro center, and is 27,000 people Minneapolis, Montreal, and Edmonton are all midsized cities but only Montreal is massive. Milford is well between Boston and Providence, not a metro by a long shot. Colorado Springs rocks, but its not LA by any stretch of the imagination, and its an hour or so outside of Denver.
Does this mean Idaho Falls necessarily deserves one? No. But city size alone is nowhere near justifcation for Quals. I mean look at NYC its a DDM Hellhole. There are no real Tourneys run there, there are no events, the qual was cancelled. We can't judge by size alone. | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

| and Twin Falls gets a hefty turnout for it's weekly games, which it runs twice a week.
Obviously, it didn't get the best trunout from the locals this year, 14 is not the greatest. Still, I think it deserves one. Not too many places get regualr turnout in the teens twice a week. | | Official Delegate, Wizards of the Coast Icons Called Shot: Gargantuan Prismatic Dragon "Rejoice, for bad things are about to happen."

| Teflon Jeff,
Were you able to secure the DCI xml results file and warband registration sheets? If so, could you email me the file so I can import it and allow you to more easily enter the warbands? If obtaining the file is impossible, the tournament, results, warbands etc can all be entered manually. How about it [:)]?

| I'll also have to go on record and say that we here in Syracuse got a qualifier, and I think it was in no small part because of our FLGS having gotten really into the scene, the fact that we play once a week, have DCI-sanctioned tournies, and have pre-releases. We're also at the intersection of the two major arterial interstates that run through the Eastern US (Interstate 81 and Interstate 90) and that its centrally located to Buffalo, Albany, and isnt too far from NYC if anyone wants to come up from there.
All that being said, it's still a smaller city of around 150,000 people and if you were to just base your assumptions of the city on what you know anecdotally about Upstate New York, many would question why we have one also. | | Champion of Tanis Half-Elven
