| Does anyone have the official start time for this event? The webpage that has the info (http://www.pastimes.net/events.htm) lists registration time at 11am. But there's no start time listed. I'm assuming it's noon, but I'd rather know for sure.

| Noon start, probably seven rounds of Swiss with at least one meal break...
...I'm gonna have to take Monday off.

| Yep, I expect to be there from 11 to 11, and then driving home to be at work at 8am the next day. (Including the time zone switch and the driving time, I might get 2 hours of sleep--if (and a big if) I can fall asleep after sunrise.)

| Plenty of time to sleep when you are deceased.
My plan is to go 6-0 and then drop so I can go home early, and just qualify based on rank.
I look forward to everyones cooperation in this [:D]

| I'll be shocked to see DJ-Chuckles' grandfather at this event. [:)]
I recently got a waive for the first few hours of work on Monday! Wahoo!
Now if only I could settle on a band. Better yet, if I could only know what others were bringing.

| Does anyone know who the judge is for this event?
I don't have good feelings about their on-site judging staffs DDM knowledge from previous encounters. I'm hoping they have an actual DDM judge

| | I believe that it is Daniel R. Alekna judging the qual, but I'm not 100% sure. Dan is a very accomplished DDM player (I believe he is in the top 200 in the world), which has made him be a great judge. Mind you this is his 4th event but I have been at all of them and they have ran smoothly every time. | | | |

I'm glad someone else asked this.quote: Originally posted by Poz05

Cool, his DCI places him at 6th in Illinois, and #120 in the US. If he's as accomplished as you say, then that should be good.
I'm also comforted by the fact that loads of maxminis players should be there. If a rules question comes up and the judge answers in a way that I think is wrong, I'm not going to have any problem saying I want the judge to talk to some people and take a second look.

| Daniel is fine. I've played against him before I believe.
As long as it's a DDM player, I'm cool with it.

| Not that I think Dan will make any mistakes, but don't forget that the judges ruling is still final, even if it turns out to be wrong later. Mind you, if he off the cuff tells you a rulings and refuses to check rule books or anything then you may have a gripe, but i seem to recall ian posting something that the judge needs to make the ruling and stand firm on the ruling, not come back later and reverse it.
At any rate, Dan's a good player and should be just as good a judge. He was running the mini's league at Games Plus for many moons, qualified in niles last year, and ran the last release tourney at pastimes. He's by far more knowledgeable than some of the staff that was running the tourney's before....

Oh yeah, I totally agree. I'm not going to tell a judge anything. But, if I'm quite sure I'm right, quite sure the judge is wrong, and quite sure I can prove it with a quick reference, then I will definitely [i]ask[i] the judge to please check the references.quote: At any rate, Dan's a good player and should be just as good a judge. I'm sure it'll go smoothly.
By the way, is anyone bringing an up-to-date copy of Guy's Clarifications?
And, what if there's something we've seen on the boards, but it isn't in any other reference place yet? Should we have a laptop at the event so things can be looked up if they're vital to someone's game?
For example, I'm quite sure Guy has ruled on the question of whether a MDP can get an attack during its "flight" by an enemy, even if there are no legal squares where it could be in while it delivered that attack (and, to boot, could get a flank if done right). Guy has ruled that this is perfectly legal, but I don't recall seeing this example in the clarifications.

| I already have the latest Clarifications, Errata, Cover vs Melee Reach and Line of Sight is not Corner to Corner documents printed.
Shouldn't need a clarificaiton ont he whole MDP thing, in my mind it's fairly straightforward.

| Dunno bout the laptop, but last i knew they had a PC available with internet access...so i believe there'd be a way to get at it. I can print out guy's rulings and bring it with, but are there other's other than the one from his site? i know the wotc site has an archive, but i haven't spent the time to get the thread to post older than 30 days so i haven't actually seen it..;)

| I don't know, but there are some figures that see play that have remarks on the errata pages that could possibly come up. I suppose the Cleric of Order's commander effect is the most likely of those to come up--nobody's likely to bring a Githyanki Fighter and try to cast the spells as special abilities, for example.
I don't think there's anything in the FAQ that isn't already internalized by the majority of players.
I think having a rulebook, maybe with any PDF-ed updates written in, and Guy's clarifications should cover it.
