I've already paid, so I better be there.

Not only is it a prerelease, it will also be my first Epic games ever.

REPORT
I'm not sure how many folks we had - 31 I think on the list; forkedmoon has the DCI results I think. We went five rounds and I emerged as the only undefeated. Every one of my games had some large component of luck to them I don't mind saying.

My two huges were Aspect of Bahamut and a Tundra Scout. For my rares I pulled Fang Dragon and the Mounted Blackguard. I elected to not play the Tundra Scout or the Huge Spider and instead went with ...

Aspect of Bahamut
Mounted Blackguard
Large Fang Dragon
Ogre Skirmisher
Small Copper Dragon
Small Black Dragon
Kobold Zombie
Tavern Brawler
Map: Field of whatever

Match One: I end up playing someone who's just registered for the promo spider and two boosters. To quote one of my heroes, I win by the two greatest words in the English language "de-fault".

There were two people who had signed up in that way and one true-bye awarded as well. The two other guys who didn't have a real match-up played and I judged the first round as there were LOTS of questions.

I debated dropping and judging but forkedmoon was thinking the same thing. He had less confidence in his band than I did in mine, so he dropped to judge the remaining rounds and I continued to play. It was, as it happens, the right choice.

Match Two: I get paired against one of the guys who didn't play during the first round. I get my map and side ... and as it turns out, this one decision wins me the game.

He's playing a Bluespawn Godslayer and Eldritch Giant (rest of band unimportant - had a Golden Protector and maybe the Warden of the Wood). As it turns out, once he places his figures, there's no way for him to get first assault points during that opening round with any figure other than the Eldritch Giant. I quickly move to take away / fill up the victory area on his side with figures, forcing him to come to the center or fall behind on assault points. I also send forward scrubs to block LOS so he can't drop nasty AoE spells on my guys in their starting areas.

He moves in with the Giant to tie up on assault points. I bring Bahamut up but out of reach near the central area.

During the second round for some reason he moves up to get REALLY close with the Eldritch Giant and swings, hitting. After cutting loose one of the B/W (cone I think maybe) hitting the Giant and some support staff, I swarm/surround him with my three dragons and start hitting. The Bluespawn advances, but I've blocked my areas from easy advance so he's stimied as far as which direction to come.

Isolated, I drop the Giant and he can't

We only got maybe six rounds in during this game as everyone was asking me for rulings (since I had judged the previous round). I would have asked for more time had the decision not been relatively final.

Match Three: I play the other guy who didn't play in the initial swiss round as well. He's got a Tundra Scout and Tordek.

Now, I haven't played minis since Winter Fantasy - maybe a handful of games, but no tournaments. I'm rusty. By this round though, I know what I want do with my map. I want to start on side B, move the dragons up toward the central area and use the drunk guy and zombie along the lower side (if B is on your right). The skirmisher moves along the top and the Blackguard joins the dragons and prepares to do some incorporeal mounted melee attacking.

This works well for me except I forget about his silly trample. He flattens one of my blockers, who wasn't really blocking and moves right into the central scoring area. Then, luck happens.

On a lark I hit him with the slow breath from the Copper and he fails. This pretty much seals game as I can surround him with no problem and finish him. It takes a few rounds, but it's doable ... then I run the heck away from Tordek. We get in about 10 rounds (me scoring VP every round) and I win on points.

Bahamut is a coward, but it wins games.

Match Four: I'm paired against my good buddy Clay sporting a Mountain Troll, Epic Eviscerator, Yuan-Ti, Spellscale, Demonic Gnoll and at least one small Black Dragon.

Again I end up on my map and side and I make the same opening moves. This match is MUCH closer and goes to time on about round seven or eight. His Eviscerator has to move into the middle for assault points but I continue to score with my little guys.

Luck happens in the middle of this game when he misses with most of the attacks from the Slaughterstone on Bahamut. This allows me to disengage and play a dancing game for the win.

I kill everything but the Troll and Eviscerator and I'm ahead on assault points by about 75 or 100. I keep the big guys away and feed the Troll and Eviscerator scrubs and hold off Clay for the win. He has to kill Bahamut to win without losing someone as I keep racking up the assault points and he's got to move his Eviscerator (the only guy scoring for him). For the last few rounds he's just got those two and the Yuan-Ti left (who I kill on the next to last round).

Match Five: This time I'm paired against my good friend Scott (tallcar24). He's got Tiamat, Razorspawn, Fang Dragon, Hyena, War Weaver (cheat!), Wererat and the Dire Rat. We end up on his map (Hellspike).

I make a fabulous move to hit his hyena in smoke that I can't see by using my copper and black dragon in tandem. I basically get them lined so I can zap one of them as the nearest ally (immune acid) and tag him. It's fabulous but he makes his save. Next phase I take care of him w/ the Blackguard. He eats my Drunk Dude and Zombie Kobold who were going to score me assault points and we finish the first round tied.

We dance, I lose some stuff. I manage to tag his Wererat, War Weaver and something else in a breath weapon, killing or routing all three. I also tag the Dire Rat with somebody and somehow take care of the Fang Dragon (maybe it was in that cone and went away too).

I'm being careful with Bahamut but he manages to poison Bahamut w/ Tiamat.

At this point I've got 5 or so folks to his two (razor dude and tiamat). Bahamut and Tiamat have one space between them, so he unleases twice ... and misses with a good three attacks. I hit the razor dude and rout him in a single swing (I think he took damage from someone else somewhere - maybe the Blackguard) and assess the situation.

I try to do a bit of dancing away from Tiamat, moving to base the routing Razor-thing with Bahamut & my Fang Dragon. He responds by killing my Blackguard and routing both my small dragons.

After the Razor-thing goes off the board I run Bahamut back to try and rally the small dragons; one heads off but the other stays. Tiamat continues to eat all the smaller dudes.

If we go to time, I'll win on my 100 assault points but that's no fun. We decide to hammer it out ... then LUCK happens.

I move in w/ Bahamut and do some damage. Tiamat misses like THREE TIMES out of her two activations. I win init and Tiamat ROUTS on my first swing. Because we're playing for fun, I move in to put the Aura of Fear on her and also base her w/ the Fang Dragon. Bahamut is poisoned and dying slowly but I win the key init and drop Tiamat for the win.

We got in eight or so rounds I think before the end.

tallcar24 and I got the win and get three boosters each. Instead of chancing luck we split a case and make sure each one of us gets a huge rare ... Scott ends up w/ Bahamut, Huge Fire and Mountain Troll ... I take the Dracolich and pull a Purple Worm and Bluespawn Godslayer. I also get the extra Huge Spider Promo which will be on the trade list soon.

Sure just rub in that everyone was getting aspects to me with my displacer beast and tundra rout (mispell on purpose). I guess I shouldn't complain too much, at least I didn't get dual huge fire elementals.
Pure luck had me 1-0 when I dropped to judge instead. Hopefully I didn't screw up too many calls.

Top Six were:
1. Chris G. (ChristopherGroves) 5-0
2. Scott (Tallcar24) 4-1
3. Clay 4-1
4. Brian (Kiddoc) 4-1 (only loss in a Bahamut v. Bahamut match where his Bahamut was crit three times by opposing Bahamut)
5. Chris N. (kilroy) 4-1
6. Jim 3-2 (Kiddoc's one loss and if I recall correctly he played against all the other Bahamut's pulled!)

We had 23 in Charlotte. I had to drop after a couple rounds for a church service for my son. Good thing too. I pulled a Purple Worm and a Huge Spider in my boosters. My rares were Cadaver Collector and Fang Dragon. I went 0-2 before I had to leave. Darkstryder (Godslayer, Sorcerer on Black)and Urban Druid ID'd for first.

D&D Minis wednesdays at 6pm in Charlotte, NC at Underground Games. Sanctioned tournament third Sat. of every month. Dagaronzie on WotC Boards.

I had a great time at the pre-release. Luck was definitely with me. Not only in my pulls but also my dice were good to me.
Here were my pulls
Aspect of Tiamat
Displacerbeast Pack Lord
Warweaver
Ogre Skirmisher
Large Fang Dragon
Greenspawn Razorfiend
Wererat Rogue
Hunting Hyena
Diseased Direrat
Cloud Reaver
Doom Fist Monk
War Ape
Dreadwarrior
Stirge

I played
Aspect of Tiamat
Large Fang Dragon
Greenspawn Razorfiend
Warweaver
Wererat Rogue
Diseased Direrat
Hunting Hyena
Hellspike
Being able to magic weapon the 2 large dragons and sometimes Tiamat in the first round was a big key to my success.

First round I played Will. He had pulled a Tiamat but decided to play his Epic Tordek and Bluespawn Godslayer instead. We played on Hellspike. I was able to breathe the acid breath weapons targeting the Greenspawn to warm up his guys. The 2 large dragons blocked the path to Tiamat for the Bluespawn. My dice were on fire and he was only able to make a single attack on Tiamat with the Blue before I was able to kill him. Then Tordek just did not have the range and Tiamat ate him up.

Second round I played someone running Eldritch Giant, Huge Fiendish Spider, Large Fang Dragon, the Hobgoblin commander, and fodder. We played on his map, King’s Road. His spider poisoned my Fang Dragon and the Eldritch Giant dim doored around my guys to threaten my back guys. So tiamat flew to base his large fang and spider. The 3 dragons routed his spider and large fang. They rallied but were in a nice line for tiamat’s breath that killed them both. The giant killed my greenspawn and my poisoned fang ran away. Tiamat routed the hobgoblin that rallied but the fang dragon finished him off. Eventually it was Tiamat vs. the giant and Tiamat beat him down.

Third round I played someone running Aspect of Bahamut, Corpsecollector, Greenspawn Razorfiend, Storm Archer. We played on his map, King’s Road. He made a couple of mistakes that cost him the game. First he did not realize until the match was over that Bahamut’s line weapon could affect Tiamat. Second at the start of round 3 he won init. Tiamat and Bahamut were based. Instead of doing a full attack on Tiamat he used his breath weapon to hit the 2 large dragons. The fang made his save, and the greenspawn failed the save but passed morale. With those 2 things Tiamat was able to take down Bahamut. The corpsecollected tried to finish off Tiamat but we went down also. Tiamat ended with 5 hit points but pulled out the win.

Fourth round I played Eric through some strange pairings on the part of the DCI reporter. I was ranked 2nd and Eric was ranked 11th. Eric was running Aspect of Bahamut, Corpsecollector, Small Black Dragon, Small Fire Elemental, Cloud Reaver, Dread Warrior, Azer Fighter, maybe something else. We played on his map, Field of Ruin. He split up with Bahamut going one way and the rest of his band going the other way. I went up the middle. Second round I actually won init and I tried to move my guys around some so that he could not get too many people in a cone or line. The Large Fang double moved up to his small dragon. Tiamat moved forward some and breathed on Bahamut. He used Bahamut to breath on Tiamat and the warweaver (drat no snake swiftness). The corpse collector moved over toward the large fang and the small dragon unloaded on the fang dragon (crit and 2 hits). My greenspawn moved over to help out Tiamat on Bahamut and the hyena ran around to give Tiamat the flank. Bahamut routed Tiamat and the corpse collector routed the fang dragon. Tiamat rallied and moved back. The greenspawn was the MVP. He hit Bahamut 4 times in a row, once for a crit. All were under the command of Tiamat for 110 damage! I won another init and Tiamat was able to finish off Bahamut with some breath weapons. After that Tiamat was able to take down the corpse collector without too much problem and that was game. I felt bad for Eric because I my dice just went nuts and I was rolling really high for a couple of rounds.

Fifth round I played Chris. Oh boy 3 Bahamuts in a row. Yuk. He already wrote up a report above. The only thing I will say is that I dispute that he could have won on tile points. He would have had to collect another 11 round of tiles while he had a rallied small bronze, an unhurt fang and a poisoned Bahamut and I had an unhurt Tiamat with 3 breath weapons left. If he would have played keep away, Tiamat would have killed the bronze and fang without much of a problem. Then rounds would have gone very quickly and Bahamut would have died from a combination of poison and breath weapons. But he didn’t do that and was able to rout Tiamat and then win all the inits to kill her off with Bahamut at 30 hps at the end.

I ended up taking 2nd place. That was by far the best I have done at a pre-release and I had lots of fun. Thanks to everyone involved and especially to James for judging. I should have been more familiar with the smoke rules before I picked hellspike.

Just some observations. Tiamat is a great piece, able on anything except Bahamut. I only beat Bahamut through either some mistakes on my opponent or through help from my support pieces. The warweaver was great. I only used the dimensional hop in the first match and didn’t use the bull’s strength at all, but the magic weapons and snakes swiftnesses were very useful. The greenspawn did well with a decent attack bonus but the fang’s attack was a little low. The diseased dire rat was great at denying assault points.

Disclaimer: Sorry for the freakishly long post, and I appologize for not getting MaxMinis names for my opponents.

I'll title this, the Overachiever's Road to Victory!, because after I opened my two huge-sized boosters I almost dropped right there. I don't get to play in many tournaments, and I had never played in an Epic/Extreme game before Saturday, so my hopes were high that I’d pull something good. I had spent a little time looking over the spoilers, so I think I was reasonably prepared, and that's why I knew that my pull was pretty dismal. It was:

Huge Fire Elemental
Huge Fiendish Spider (HFS)
Blackguard on Nightmare
Clawfoot Rider
Storm Archer
Warden of the Wood
Cleric of Syreth
Poison Dusk Lizardfolk
Diseased Dire Rat
Witchknife
Cleric of Laogzed
Twig Blight
Whitespawn Hordeling
Tavern Brawler
War Ape
Kobold Zombie

Plus I had the Huge Fiendish Spider repaint given as a promo for playing. So my warband was:

Huge Fiendish Spider x2
Blackguard on Nightmare (non-epic)
Clawfoot Rider
Cleric of Syreth
Storm Archer
Diseased Dire Rat
Tavern Brawler
Map: Tomb of Queen Peregrine

I went with the dual spiders because of the synergy of the "smite poisoned" ability. Otherwise, I really didn't think I could do much of anything good. So, I played anyway, just to enjoy the fine fellowship of other DDM players…

Round 1 was against Kirk Johnson, who was playing Eldritch Giant, HFS, Fang Dragon, Blackspawn Exterminator, Hobgoblin Talon of Tiamat, and Tavern Brawler. I won my map and my side, and I set up on the “A” side with my spiders, Blackguard and cleric in the corner opposite the exit (what I call the bottom of the map). My ranged stuff and fodder was up high near the exit with the plan to pick off his fodder and run for victory points. I thought that my best strategy would be to team up on the giant and take it down, hopefully getting enough points for the victory, but boy was I wrong. Kirk kind of feinted the giant into the middle of the board, then dimension doored him up to the top of the map. I surrounded it with my two spiders and started pounding away with my blackguard just around the corner (for moral support). I made a few errors in placement, but basically the giant just beat the crap out of everything near it. Plus, his spider poisoned one of my spiders and it ran away. In the end, I conceded having only scored 25 VP.

Round 2 was against William Highsmith, who ran Epic Tordek, Bluespawn Godslayer, Demonic Gnoll Archer, 2x Doom Fist Monk, Small Copper Dragon, and Cloudreaver. He won map init and chose Hellspike, but I won side and took side A, setting up all in the large area in the bottom corner. He ran his fodder straight across to the sacred circle victory area, while I shot at them with the Storm Archer and ran my rat over there to muck with his VP. I ran my main force across the lower part of the map to engage the Godslayer and earn VP of my own. My Diseased Dire Rat prevented two turns of his VP while my Tavern Brawler racked up VP for me. I managed to take down the Godslayer, then saw Tordek chew through both one spider and the Blackguard in one turn. Seeing my ultimate demise in that little scrunched-up, masked dwarven face, I decided to run away. Tordek ran after my spider, which took two AoO in its flight, but when time was called I was up 320 to 278. This would become my main gameplan for the rest of the day.

At this point, I was at a crossroads. My wife called and told me that we had been invited to go eat Mexican food (for which I have a slightly irrational attraction) in Carrboro, so my appetite for food was immediately set to odds against my drive to play games (DDM in particular). In order to meet up with them, I would have to leave just after the next round, so I decided (figuring that my win was a total fluke) that I would drop and go eat right after I lost the next round.

So, in Round 3 I faced John Patterson, who was running Purple Worm, HFS, Yuan-ti Sorcerer, Blackspawn Exterminator, Goliath Cleric of Kavaki, Witchknife, and Azer Fighter. We ended up playing on Tomb of Queen Peregrine and I got side A again, setting up as I had before. He started the Purple Worm in his upper start area, and pretty much everything else down low. I managed to take down his spider and most of his smaller stuff while my fodder distracted his worm. Then I ran away again, winning a very close one 276-266 when time was called.

So then, I had to decide, eat Mexican or stay and play with a very slight chance of placing. Whether it was my overwhelming yet quite false sense of my own DDM ability or just the confusion of actually winning again, I decided to stay and play it out, planning to drop after any loss to salvage at least part of the meal.

Round 4 was against Richard Daugherty, who wielded the second Epic Tordek I faced. In addition, he ran Tundra Scout, Golden Protector, Warden of the Wood, Aasimar Fighter, and Twig Blight. I think we both had the Queen Peregrine map, and I ended up on side A again as I had before. I saw a major threat in the Golden Protector (who could neutralize poison), so after engaging the Tundra Scout with one Spider, I blinked out the Blackguard and ran it at the Protector. I missed it and ran away, bringing up the second spider to cover my escape. Again, I decided to ignore Tordek as much as I could, ganging up on the Tundra Scout with one spider and my Blackguard and using the second Spider to keep hitting the Golden Protector. The Tundra Scout did its little pushback and strike-in-the-air thing on my blackguard to kill her in one turn, while the Warden of the wood removed poison from it. I still managed to finish off the mounted giant, however, with the mostly unharmed spider. Meanwhile, I had poisoned the Golden protector and had it down to 20 hp, but Tordek was swinging on my second spider. Of course, Tordek hit on his first swing, forcing morale on that spider. The spider ran and took an AoO from the golden protector, leaving it wounded but alive, which proved to be the most important die roll of this match (because he would have killed it with another swing). The Golden Protector then gave poison immunity to Tordek instead of healing itself of poison, dooming it on the next round. I guess he didn’t know that the death of the Tundra Scout was my cue to run away, and I ended up winning again at time 364-149 after my spider rallied on the next turn.

Woo-hoo! I realized that I actually might place! But I also knew that it was more likely that I would lose, get nothing, and still completely miss my beloved Mexican food.

Round 5 was against Kelly Kamm, who had Eldritch Giant, Bluespawn Godslayer, Dragonwrought Kobold, War Weaver, Azer Figher, Diseased Dire Rat, Golden Protector, and a Stirge. I won map and side, and set up as usual. He put the stirge alone on the upper side, which the Clawfoot Rider shot and killed on round 1. Basically, this match involved me trying to gang up on the Godslayer but having both spiders get killed early by massively heavy swings and the use of Snake’s Swiftness. I got VP almost every round, however, and managed to take down the Godslayer without losing much of anything else. I then scattered my minis to all corners of the map and played keep-away from the lumbering purple giant. It was close, but 8 rounds of VP led me to victory 488-406 when time was called.

Double woo-hoo! I got a Mountain Troll and a Redspawn Firebelcher in the booster I won. I had to eat McDonalds on the way home, but man did it taste sweet!

As I look back, a few things stand out that helped me win. First, very few of my opponents made a real effort to get Victory Points, which I racked up on (200 points in the last round!) Also, most people just kind of ran forward and tried to beat up things with their huge figures, and a lot of players were kind of rusty. Most of all, however, losing the first round put me in the “loser’s bracket”, so I didn’t face a single Bahamut or Tiamat all day, which really saved my butt. I had a great time at All Fun and Games, as always, and can’t wait until my next trip over there!

Yeah forgot about the poison. So tallcar24, you should have encouraged me to try to somehow retreat and win on points ... thus sealing my doom!

As I said, I got help from Lady Luck in every match.

It’s great to see all the reports from the Cary pre-release and I am especially happy to not see any comments on how the judging ruined someone’s day.
I was intending to play and like everyone else I was hopeful for some luck in my pulls. I was handed my boxes after everyone else at my table of four. I had one light and one heavy box. I decided to get the disappointment over with first and opened the light box first. My huge was a Displacer Beast Pack Lord – okay at least I have a commander if needed. My rare was that tree thing and I had an Ogre skirmisher. I also got a twig blight and tavern brawler – I was thinking at least I have the activations covered most likely with these low cost figs. While I was perusing things, the players around me opened faster than I did and a Tiamat was next to me (tallcar24) and across from me was the double Huge Fire Elemental pull (drabbacs).
Now I pulled over my “heavy” box with hope of pulling an Aspect. I popped the top slowly and found a cadaver collector lying on top of all my other “200 point playable minis”. I pulled the card pack out and saw what I dreaded –Tundra Scout- also known as fire’s whipping boy. I tried hard but just couldn’t find a team I felt had much of a chance against the 8 aspects pulled elsewhere or all the godslayers going around. With so many players in the pre-release who hadn’t played for so long I let the organizer know I would drop after the first round to judge (I’m really not sure which I enjoy more being a judge or playing in these tournaments.) I knew I already was paired for the first round so I decided to play the first round. There was the potential for three byes in the first round since we had an odd number of players and there were two ghost players – people who had paid to play but for whatever reason were not able to be present. I didn’t get my hoped for bye instead I was paired with Ryan. When I saw his Huge Fire Elemental I pretty much gave up in my mind – I had chosen to run the Tundra Scout. He won Map Initiative and chose Queen P. I won set-up and let him set up first. He set up at the end by the one large magic semi-circle and placed most of his figures in the area by his exit. His Fire Elemental was across the board. Based on this I decided my only hope was to rush up at his figures near his exit and hope for some lucky MC failures on his part (if I could do enough damage) Luckily for me he worked with me on this and I was able to get him to engage with me fairly close to his exit. . I had hoped to get VP every round after the first but very smartly he had saved one of his spiders’ actions in round two to kill off my small black dragon who tried to sneak into a victory area. My cadaver collector was pounding on his spider along with my TS. I made a mistake and let his HFE base my Tundra Scout but I had been able to hit his HFE a couple of times from my Demonic Gnoll Archer such that I had a hope to drop his HFE to morale before my TS would die. (It’s not really in your favor when everytime I hit him for 25 I took 20!). My TS made his morale when he was dropped under half. I took the risk that his HFE would fail morale and pounded on it with my TS once I had been based. I got extremely lucky when it did in fact run but darn it – it was still on the board and now very close to his commander – some 55 HP thing with spells – Warden of the Wood? I knew my whole game relied on his HFE going off the board so I decided to runn anything I could after the commander even if I had to give up AoOs. I won initiative for the next round and ran my DBPL within melee reach four and hit for 20. I followed that up with a move by the cadaver collector to within melee reach two (giving away an AoO by his spider which hit – thank you fearless) I managed to hit his commander for another 30 but still needed the failed morale. Again Ryan’s die failed him and his commander ran off the board ensuring the HFE would follow. At this point he conceded and we both dropped.
Chris Groves was still offering to drop and judge himself but I hadn’t seen him get the chance to play much recently and wanted to be sure he played (especially since his pulls were superior to mine!) and I had already had a great day since just before the tournament I was able to trade some old magic cards that one day would have found the trash can for some harbinger minis including a minotaur and nebin, two I had been missing! All in all a very good day for me. It was great to see everyone who came out for the pre-release.

Man no wonder you won, two huge rares and good regular rares, some of us only had huge uncommons and less than stellar rares. [:)]

I pulled a godslayer, and HFS as my huges, and a spell scale sorcerer and hobgoblin of tiamet as my rares, I also had a greenspawn, bonded fire summoner, dire rat, storm archer and some other stuff that i didn't use.

My first match was against little James (not sure how old he was but probably 6-8ish) He was using Bahumut, godslayer, and regular evisicator. He didn't have any maps so we played on my field of ruin map. I spent a lot of time trying to teach him the game, as he really didn't know what was going on, which was good for me, since if he had known what he was doing I wouldn't have stood a chance. He wasted Bahumut's breath weapons early taking out my dire rat and archer. I had cast blur on my godslayer which saved his life on several occasions. My godslayer and greenspawn meet up with his bahumut in the middle of the airship and I was able to take him down before he could kill my godslayer, thanks to some fortunate missed conceal checks and a ray of enfeeblement. I was then able to use the spider and the rest of the godslayer to take down his godslayer (i lost mine in the process), his evisicator failed it's moral save and routed. I felt kind of torn throughout the whole match, because I wanted to help James out, but at the same time I knew it would be a struggle to win even with his limited knowledge of the game. After the match was over I gave him some pointers (such as waiting to try to hit more minis in the breath weapons) and he went on to win his next three matches, my luck didn't hold out as well.

I don't have my notes with me and I can't remember the name of the next guy I faced off with, but he had a tundra scout and an epic tordek. I won map init again, and was able to score victory points while keeping him from doing so. He went up the side of the airship. I tried taking on tordek and the tundra scout with the godslayer and the greenspawn, but tordek was just too much. Even though he had killed off a lot of my stuff it was a close game, as I had way more victory points, in the last round if I could keep him from killing anything I would be ahead on points, I ran my bonded fire summoner out of reach from tordek, but forgot about his ranged attack, which he was able to use on my greenspawn and finish it off going ahead on points. Some better playing on my part and I might have been able to pull it off, but alas it was not so.

My next match was against kirk, I don't even remember what he had, it was another close match, that I made some mistakes in and Kirk capitalized on, and I ended up loosing.

My forth match was against william, we both knew we were out of the running at this point and so were just playing for fun. He had an epic tordek, that with some amazing criticals from my fodder at the end of the game I was able to get down to 35 points, but he eventually killed enough of my stuff to win on points.

My final match was against Stu (the puller of two huge fire elementals and no bonded summoner). This was the first match where my opponent made all the conceal checks on my godslayer so he went down pretty fast. Fortunately my HFS was able to finish off the HFE that the godslayer had been attacking, and then his second HFE failed it's moral save, and since he didn't have commander it was over after that.

I ended up 15th mostly due to people dropping. I had, fun but would have liked to had some better pulls, of course it would also help if I didn’t make stupid mistakes like taking an attack of opportunity on a huge fire elemental with my dire rat, oh I hit you, but wait you have DR so I don’t do anything except take 10 points of fire damage myself (not one of my brighter moments).
