A Sad day.. but the DL closed its doors on July 3rd and will not be re-opening at this time. Some day perhaps.. but not for the foreseeable future.

That stinks Ack. So where are you going to be playing now?

Unfortunately, I can foresee that happening in Groton as well, he already had to lay-off his only other employee.

On mainstreet in Torrington there is a place called Card Empire which hosts DDM events mostly every monday...its not on the DCI yet but if 8 people show the owner, Howie, said that he would set it up for all the WoTC benefits and what not..http://www.cardempire.com/ terrible website but i has a map quest link...really nice guy and has a small space for the store but then a large upstairs to game in and he sells food sometimes...check it out!

BTW: What happened to the Dragons Lair? just not enough income

PS. This is what the alphabet would look like if Q and R were removed

Sad news indeed. the local store near me just closed up as well (and used to host league DDM... Paperback Bazaar).

I sincerley hope that the Citadel makes it... he's been through hard times before.

loss of sales and jacked up rent were the causes I think. its going to be harder and harder for the friendly local stores to compete vs the prices of GO and amazon type stuff.

thats why I always buy at least a case at retail.. support local business

That is a sad day. But to all those willing to travel DDM is still being played with regularity at "The Grid" located in downtown Manchester. I know that Ack knows how to get there. Events are run on Wednesday night starting just before or after 7pm. This week is WoDQ Booster Draft $40 get 2 boosters and pass around the fun.
Next Week is also booster draft, and then the week afterwards is Epic.

I think that gaming stores all around are going OOB. Comics don't sell anymore, the price of gaming stuff increases, and the relative amount of money that people can spend (if you are a gamer) is usually pretty low.

Well that is my self pimping of the FLGS.
See you guys there.

Inquire about some possible Friday or weekend events. Driving from New Britain to Torrington on a weeknight is a no go for me. [:(]

WotC - making me wish more and more every day for a return to the TSR days. :(

Its sad, because Dragon's Lair was one of the few places that you could get kit items from. Well, at least the crowd at the Grid in Manchester is great and very enthusiastic about the game. Card Empire is kind of a long trek for me. But might have to check it out sometime soon.
